Xiaflex (collagenase clostridium histolyticum) "After first series of injections which were not painful I waited as prescribed before sex. First experience having sex and I got a penile fracture. Do not take xiaflex unless you want to go down the road of a penile implant"

Xiaflex (collagenase clostridium histolyticum) "After receiving 4 injections for Peyronie's disease manifested by an approximate 30 degree curve to the left, I find myself at least one inch shorter and a curve upward larger than the previous curve. I'm told this curve is not due to plaque therefore not correctable. Sex, that is penetration, is almost impossible with this particular curve. I was better off before this treatment."

Xiaflex (collagenase clostridium histolyticum) "Look for other options! Unless your into your penis looking like ballon art. My doctor bragged on it, telling me all his success stories. How it was my only option. I never had an ultrasound Or imaging. Before or during the procedure. However he mentioned during my 2nd injection that I had the largest plaque he had performed the injection on. At one point he ask me where he should inject it. That’s after he already jabbed my penis 5 times trying to hit plaque and injecting a little each time. If I had known what I know now about this drug, I would have even looked at natural alternatives."

Xiaflex (collagenase clostridium histolyticum) "After two rounds of Xiaflex I can say I’ll never have a third . Never recommend to anyone no matter how bad your PD is. The pain, swelling blisters and bleeding are a 11 on a scale 1-10. Nothing is worth what this horrific drug has done to me ."

Xiaflex (collagenase clostridium histolyticum) "I have more of a curve now then I use to. My penis is all black and blue. My urologist was shooting other injections right in bruising. Throbbing pain. Shortness of breath. Headaches. Its not worth it at all. I had way better results with acoustic wave therapy. Girth was better and it was straighter."

Xiaflex (collagenase clostridium histolyticum) "Don't waste your time or money. I went to my urologist for the treatment , who was excellent. Little bruising or discomfort with the injections. After 4 courses of injections over several months, NOTHING. I even purchased an expensive traction devise and followed the instructions perfectly....The only option for this disease unfortunately is surgery if you want any results at all. So glad my health insurance paid for this as it's VERY expensive and ineffective."

Xiaflex (collagenase clostridium histolyticum) "Terrible experience with Xiaflex! This is a very bad drug! It left me worse than I was! I wish I would have never done this. I felt a burst, worst bruising ever. So very painful! I still don't feel right, this has messed me up big time!!! This drug should not be used for this!! Rating this drug as a 1 is too high!"

Xiaflex (collagenase clostridium histolyticum) "Painful and stressful. It seemed to break up plaque a little after 2nd round. No further progress after that. By 3rd round there was more plaque developing and curvature actually got worse. I only give it more than one star because I do believe it helps a few people, but not a high percentage. It was worth trying at least."

Xiaflex (collagenase clostridium histolyticum) "I just finished my second round. Like most others, the first set of shots were not that painful but uncomfortable. The second shot of the first series was given 1 week after the first. I purchased the traction device that bends and used it as directed. The second round of shots was done on successive days and it was much more painful with a lot more bruising and pain. I couldn't use the traction device for over a week because it was too uncomfortable. I just went in for an assessment of the curvature and it went from 60 to 50 with no change in length or girth, for which I'm grateful. I am scheduled for my third treatment in a week. I can't say anything too bad about the whole experience, other than I was hoping for a more significant change. But I trust the doctors at Mayo. I will let everyone know of any changes moving forward."

Xiaflex (collagenase clostridium histolyticum) "I am very satisfied with how things have gone and am happy that I chose to go the Xiaflex route. I have had two sets of injections with the third set scheduled. I started out with 65 degree curvature and am now down to 20 degrees. I would be thrilled if I was left with no further improvement since 20 degrees is mild compared to where I was. Yes, the injections are painful, but that isn't surprising considering the location. And I experienced severe bruising each time and a bit of pain for about three days afterwards. I should add that I also have Dupuytrene's, so that is the source of my plaques, not injury."

Xiaflex (collagenase clostridium histolyticum) "Completed 4 sets of 2 injections (8 injections total). It wasn't pleasant receiving the shots. Nor was it easy Not having sex for a month after each shot. But, everything does appear to be straightening out. It is longer and thicker. Would not go through it if there was a better choice. I have had surgery on my hands for DePutryn's, as well as the injections too...Surgery is a rougher path. Surgery on the hand was bad enough, injections a better alternative. And the stories you will have will make your friends cringe. WIsh I had known about the numbing creme. But done now. Doctor says it can take up to 9 months to get full benefit. It is working great then...Kind of like getting a Dick Lift."

Xiaflex (collagenase clostridium histolyticum) "Xiaflex injection therapy worked, but only on the sides that had less scar tissue. My urologist was very arrogant, and I kept telling him that most of the scar tissue was on the left side. Because I was to only have so many injections, the left side was never treated. He told me he used the photo of my penis to choose where to make the injections. Why didn't he use a marking pen? I read that it was the best way to inject Xiaflex into the plaque that needed it the most. He never did. Now I have an upward curve, and it still bends to the left when erect. I lost an incredible amount of length and girth. I haven't even tried to have sex because of it. Very disappointed in the doctor. Xiaflex did get rid of the plaque where he injected the Xiaflex though. I need another treatment for the plaque on the left side!"

Xiaflex (collagenase clostridium histolyticum) "I had my 4th injection from my urologist a month ago for Peyronie's Diseaseg. It was so painful all the muscles in my back locked up. Since those injections I have barely been able to walk. So I went to my primary Dr who said I have arthritis in my hip, but how suddenly the pain and inability to walk due to feeling like tendons were ripping made me think there’s something else wrong. The pain is only 3-6 inches away from my penis, so I thought maybe Xiaflex related. I had to read about bad experiences when used on peoples fingers to find out that some doctors messed up and didn’t get it injected exactly where they should and it trickled down onto tendons in hand causing damage. So now I believe that maybe it trickled off the plaque down to the tendons toward my left hip. The inability to walk without extreme pain from is just getting worse. It’s been a week and my primary care doctor hasn’t called me back."

Not to disparage my doctor but he didn't describe the penile molding as well as he should have until after the second shot of my second cycle"

Xiaflex (collagenase clostridium histolyticum) "I am a 56 YO male of good health. Just finished my 3rd round of therapy including modeling. I had a 45 degree curvature which is now 20% and very functional and manageable. I had a good urologist that followed the recommended protocol to the letter. Although the injections were painful initially, I was able to tolerate them more in the subsequent series. Furthermore, I had my doctor provide me with a noavacaine numbing cream about 5 minutes prior that reduced injection pain considerably. Make sure you ask for that as it makes a considerable difference. I did have some bruising after each injection but it always cleared up within a week and was manageable. I am very happy with the results so far and will see him in two months for a Trimex evaluation to determine whether I want to precede any further. I would recommend this therapy. However, find a good urologist, and do all of the home modeling he recommends between series and beyond so you continue to stretch and reform."

Xiaflex (collagenase clostridium histolyticum) "I’m very surprised by the bad experiences. Fortunately my experience has been good. I’ve had 3 series. I completed shot 1 of the 3rd today. I’ve never had a reaction but on the way to the car I had pain from my sacrum to my knees. I had to wait a bit before driving home. Not sure what that was about. As far as success some length loss but girth returned and has straightened. I’ve been pleased."

Xiaflex (collagenase clostridium histolyticum) "Opted for surgery over Xiaflex. Had plaque the entire length with a hinge at the top 3rd. Now totally straight without ED, but lost substantial length and girth where the plaque couldn’t be removed. Overall, it’s a better deal. Doc Hauser was very good taking me from a 110 degree curve to 0 degree. Lament the length loss but I’m straight as an arrow!! Also asked (kept asking) and received male intimate care post op which lessened my already strained emotional state."

Xiaflex (collagenase clostridium histolyticum) "I had my first injection. After reading all the horrible reviews, I was terrified but decided to go with it. I had my first injection, no pain, just normal injection pain. 24 hours later, no swelling and no bruising, making me wonder if I got an injection of Xiaflex or saline water. I was told that due to my extreme curvature, it would take multiple injections. I just pray it works. If I have any more curvature, it'll be a complete loop. Any more shrinkage and it'll be gone."

Xiaflex (collagenase clostridium histolyticum) "I saw results after the first round of treatment but after the second round went from a 60-degree to a 20-degree curve. I am on my 4th and last round and I am at an 18-degree curve. The first round of 2 shots is bad. On the first day, you get 1 shot to erect the penis and the 2nd shot brings it down then you get the Xiaflex shot. I will not lie all 3 shots hurt for a few seconds and it is unpleasant. But so far it is worth the few seconds of pain. I hope after this round back to normal or close to it. It made my sex life great and my wife is happy with the results. I went on a website and got a grant for Xiaflex. Between insurance and the grant, it cost $0 for Xiaflex but I had to pay for the medication to erect my penis and one to bring it down, which cost about a total of $150.00."
