"I'm 49, and I've had severe rosacea since I was 17. Nothing I've tried worked until I was prescribed Mirvaso a year ago. I am so happy this is the medicine that finally works! The only problem is my insurance carrier, for some stupid reason, considers this 'cosmetic' and won't cover it!"

"I don't normally review products I've used, but I made sure to share my experience with Mirvaso. I am 20 and have had extreme redness for about 12 years now. I finally went to the dermatologist, who then recommended Mirvaso. I used it for about four days. The first day seemed to take away the redness completely. Thrilled, I continued use, and it went downhill quickly. After the 6-8 hours of clear skin were up, it flared up way worse than it was before. I stopped using it but still see splotches of intense red all over. Do not use. Waste of time."

"My rosacea is only noticeable/active during the winter and after hot showers. I was mostly being vain when asking for this and truly learned my lesson. I used Mirvaso twice (pea-sized amounts), and while it made getting ready in the morning easier for those two days because it worked almost instantly, on the third day my face was a plum. I had dark purple-ish welts/bumps all over my cheeks. Later, my entire face was red, swollen, burning, itching for 2 weeks. Absolutely nothing worked to make the burning redness stop (Benadryl, soothing creams, natural remedies). I never in my life experienced anything this terrible. It's been a while, but I feel like I still have an uneven complexion in comparison to before."

"DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT! My 15-year-old son is light-skinned, blonde, and blue-eyed and tends to flush (German descent). This bothered him, so we spoke to his dermatologist, and she prescribed Mirvaso. He was so excited to try it and applied it thinly over his face. Within 20 minutes, his skin was deathly pale with mottling at the edges and around his eyes. He looked terrible. Within 10 hours, his face started turning an angry red as if he had been slapped repeatedly. He then started feeling faint. I took him to the med clinic, and the doctor there prescribed steroids to reduce inflammation and Benadryl. We are still waiting anxiously for his handsome face to return to normal. This is after ONE use."

"Bottom line: Didn't work for me. I had wanted to try this a few years back, but it was too expensive even with insurance. I went to (yet another) derm to see if he had any new suggestions for my redness, and he Rx'd this. He gave me a sample and info for a company he uses, IRMAT, that will guarantee a cost of $80 if your insurance will not cover. I used the sample, which only lasted 3 days, and thought perhaps it was working, so I filled the Rx. After about 7 days, my redness was worse AND I broke out, which I don't normally do. I had to stop using it and go back to my MetroGel, but the redness will not subside, and the breakouts won't go away either. So back to the derm I go...."

"I used it for 3 days straight, worked wonderfully. The rebound redness would come on after about 5 or 6 hours, so I just put on more medicine. Started to have stomach issues, not sure if related, but figured I'd stop the treatment to see if that fixed the issue. The rebound redness came back, and 3 days later hasn't left. I had very mild rosacea before this, now I look as if I've been sitting near a fire. My face is so red it's almost purple, and it burns like crazy. I feel like my face is several degrees hotter than the rest of my body. I have NEVER had such a red face! I will never use this stuff again. If you are going to try it, start out using a very, very small amount, as maybe I used way too much. As for me, never again!"

"I have rosacea, and my dermatologist recently prescribed me Mirvaso for my erythema. It's good for removing the redness, but it's only temporary, and after 6-8 hours, the redness comes back even stronger than before. Can be useful for exceptional situations where you want to hide your redness, but apart from that, it actually makes my rosacea worse, so I wouldn't recommend spending $65 for it."

"A dermatologist prescribed Mirvaso to me for my rosacea, and it cost nearly $80 for the tube. I used it for 2 days, and my face swelled up and blistered, and I got a rough, itchy, shocking rash. My face looked terribly burnt, and I stopped using it immediately. I wouldn’t recommend this product to anyone."

"Omg... I was so excited after I tried this the first day! I had forgotten what I looked like without red cheeks. But then after the second day, I had a few bumps on my cheeks, and the redness did not disappear like it did the day before. Tried it again, and now my cheeks are VERY red and hot. This must not work on fair skin. I'm disappointed in this product. I look worse now than I did before I tried it."

"I wish I had read about Mirvaso before I started it! The doctor prescribed it for my facial redness over my cheeks, but now, two weeks later, my cheeks, forehead, and chin are all bright red, with small pus-filled spots and feel like it's burning. I don't like going out as I'm embarrassed about how I look."

"My doctor prescribed this medication for my type 1 rosacea redness. On day one, it worked really well, and I was red-free for 12 hours. I did notice a slight stinging sensation, but nothing too bad. By day two, the stinging had resolved itself, and I again had a red-free face. My doctor told me to use a very small amount, spread thinly, and this seems to work well. This medication has given me my life back!"

"Like many others on this board, I was prescribed Mirvaso for moderate rosacea. I used it for maybe a week, but it caused very severe rebound flushing (my face was all over magenta, even in areas where the drug was not used), so I discontinued use. Soon thereafter, I started developing almost cystic-acne-like papules that began to appear along my cheeks and forehead (where I had never gotten such acne before) and have persisted for the past 6 months. I have learned since that these withdrawal effects, while sometimes temporary, can last for as long as a year or more. In short, this drug greatly damaged my skin, and so far I have not found any product or regime, either prescription or OTC, that can provide relief. Strongly do not recommend."

"Wish I read the comments on here first. Worked wonderful for the first week, then slowly I had to use more and more to get the same effect. Eventually, my face started breaking out in bad rashes and the rebound redness/heat was extreme. After I stopped using this gel (2-3 weeks), my face and eyes were still bright red and felt like they were on fire, also kept breaking out in bad dark red rashes. These nasty side effects lasted for roughly 1-1.5 months before disappearing completely. Strange how this medication worked so wonderfully for less than 7 days, then caused so much distress. I would stay away from this gel."

"My derm gave me some samples to try because I can't afford laser treatments. Applied some on day one. A little sting, but that was gone quickly. Within minutes, I noticed a definite reduction in the redness. Within an hour, my face was just slightly pink. Spent the day enjoying not having to look at the deep red on my face in the mirror. Day two was a different story. The rebound was so bad, the redness was back even worse than before, and the pain was excruciating. Even had some puffiness, like my skin was rebelling. I chucked all the samples in the trash. I'll never use Mirvaso again. Hope others have better luck."

"Started using Mirvaso, the first 3 days it worked great. Was so pleased, but as the days went by, it started to leave my face red and itched, so this was and is not the med for me. Now have to wait it out to see if my color goes away."

"I used this product twice. The rebound effect is horrible. My skin is bright pink, it has never been pink like this before! I feel like my derm experimented on me! I specifically asked about side effects. DO NOT USE this product. Anyone that has a bright red tomato face after this product should be suing. How is this product on the market?"

"Like others, I used the product for a couple of days but stopped on day 3 after experiencing intense rebound symptoms. It seems to have burned my face. I don’t think they should be allowed to market this product to people with rosacea given that it makes the symptoms worse. Hopefully, this redness/burning isn’t permanent."

"I had a bad experience with this cream. For the first few days of use, it looked very promising, my redness was almost gone completely. Although as the days went on, I started to put this cream on straight away in the morning, and then later in the day when I would get stressed or embarrassed, my redness would look absolutely terrible. It would be completely pale in some places, and then in others it would be BRIGHT RED. It happened on the outside of my face, right by my nose, right under my eyes. It was so bad that I couldn’t go to school. I felt physically and mentally uncomfortable. I do not recommend it at all."

"I was diagnosed with rosacea earlier this year after I was trying to treat my own skin, and it became out of control. My dermatologist started me out with a cream for the inflammation, then on my second visit-one month later-recommended Mirvaso for the redness I was experiencing. From the first use, I had a major improvement in the reduction of redness. I have not experienced any problems (rash, rebound, worsening, etc.). I use it almost every day but do take a day off every so often. I know that everyone’s skin is unique, so the only way to know if it works is to try it for yourself. I was worried after reading so many negative reviews, but it has been a positive change for my skin. The instructions say to use a full pump on the five areas of the face, and I find I do not need to use nearly that much. My insurance does help with the product, but I am left with a fair amount to cover, which I find worth it at this point because of the improvement I have seen."

"Do not use this cream! It makes things worse. My face became perfect after I applied the cream. But after a few hours, I started feeling a terrible burning sensation on my face. And after a few more hours, I all became red."

"I'm a 54-year-old man that started having dermatitis upon return from a deployment to Iraq. After trying a variety of medications, I was told that I have rosacea. I tried Mirvaso on one side, and it seemed to clear my face. After trying it for several days, I noticed my face turning extremely red and itching. I cannot use this and am heading back to the dermatologist."

"The dermatologist says I have rosacea. My symptom is severe flushing. Desperate for relief, I attempted this gel. It immediately turned me white as a ghost, I looked very sick. On the second day using this gel, after 6 hours, my face turned more red than before. It eventually subsided, so on the 3rd day, I thought I’d try to use less… well, once again, 6 hours later, my face basically caught on fire. Now my butterfly rash is worse than ever. It’s not the same flush as before, either. It’s horrible. It’s been 24 hours off the gel, and it hasn’t improved. Now they want me to try something different. I have no plans on putting ANYTHING else on my face for a long time. Mirvaso caused exactly what it’s supposed to treat. After reading these reviews, this happened to what seems like everyone. It needs to come off the market. The price says it all… Do yourself a favor and don’t use this gel."

"I had used Metrogel for years, but it didn't seem to be making a difference anymore, so I went to a derm, and he prescribed Mirvaso. I should have walked away when I saw the price! The first couple of days I used it, my face and along my hairline itched. Redness increased, and acne appeared. I stayed with it for two weeks; the flushing got worse, and my face burned, along with my ears and neck. Acne increased. But the worst effect was the headaches. I have migraines that I finally was able to manage with two prescriptions. The derm didn't tell me a side effect of Mirvaso. Did the FDA approve this?"

"I have red, sensitive skin on my face, so my doctor instructed me to use this cream to cure it. It worked at the start, my skin went pale and had no adverse reaction. Then, after day 3 of using it, my skin went on fire. Rebound redness is a thing, and it burned my skin for hours on end. I couldn't leave the house for days. Worst cream in the world, does the opposite of what it's supposed to do. Please DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON IT."

"I tried Mirvaso as recommended by my dermatologist. He gave me samples to try. The first few days using it, I was so excited. My face looked clear of redness and 'normal.' I loved what I saw and thought there was finally something out there that would combat the redness for good. After a few days at night when I washed off the medication, I noticed that my face looked redder than ever. It looked red like a tomato and a little swollen. I continued using the medication thinking it was my skin adjusting to it. Wrong! The redness only continued and got worse. I stopped using Mirvaso for good. Hopefully, others have a better outcome than I did."
