Belladonna "I was in the recovery room following a lithotripsy procedure for breaking up kidney stones. I was writhing in excruciating spasms and given large amounts of morphine and other narcotics to no avail. Finally, a nurse figured it out and decided to give me Belladonna. Wow! That made all the difference. I’ll ask for this first the next time I have to have lithotripsy."

"I purchase belladonna pellets at my health food store, and if I cannot sleep after using deep breathing techniques, I will take 3 to 5 pellets and dissolve them under my tongue. It works very well for sleep."

Belladonna for Gas "The medication Bebecal contains an ingredient named belladonna. Never give this medication to your baby, child, or adult. It is very deadly. Doctors in Lebanon recommended this for my newborn baby, and it disrupts the nervous system."

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome "I was given belladonna as a child to relieve IBS. Since 1979, I have taken Bentyl, aka Dicyclomine, for IBS. It has proven to be a lifesaver. It is inexpensive and works. I have had no negative side effects."

"I found on the label of teething tabs/homeopathic, it had belladonna in it. Use 2 to 3 tabs under the tongue. At first, I thought it controlled the pain.... After this research, I found that I assume the biggest advantage would be the decrease of salivation. I need to check the other ingredients to find the benefits of this product."

"I had horrible esophageal spasms with my esophagitis. Nothing the MD gave me worked to dull the pain for more than 15 minutes. Sleeping was impossible. An ND gave me a belladonna tincture diluted in water. I got nearly immediate relief from the spasms that lasted for hours. The only side effect I noticed was a small headache."

Belladonna for Irritable Bowel Syndrome "I received this as a soapy mixture with skull and crossbones on it, taking just one drop as needed. Very sedating, but it was the only thing that stopped the spasms completely. At the time, my IBS had become ulcerative colitis, so a real solution was needed fast, and this was a lifesaver. Doubt one would want it long term as it does sedate heavily. Still, for severe pain and spasms, this worked better than any other med for me."
