Amifampridine "I have been on Ruzurgi (which used to be called 3,4 DAP) since 2014, and it is a miracle drug. I could barely walk, and when I took this drug, I was walking nearly normal after 20 minutes. In 2018, Catalyst patented Firdapse, and we were forced to go on it in January 2019. I had so many side effects from Firdapse that I never had on Ruzurgi. Luckily for me, Ruzurgi got approved for children from ages 6-17, and my doctor can now prescribe it off-label. I was never so happy in my life to get back the Ruzurgi."

Amifampridine "Much worse side effects than 3,4-diaminopyridine. In addition, it dramatically exacerbated a kidney problem. Plus it does not last the 4 hours 3,4-diaminopyridine and/or Ruzurgi lasted. The FDA did monumental damage to the LEMS patients, and the company that produced Firdapse should be sued and the FDA approval stripped."

Amifampridine "I took Firdapse for about 9 months, and I had so many side effects. I had a pain in my lower back that went from one hip to the other hip. When I got up in the morning, I could barely walk. It took until afternoon for it to go away, if it did then. I had pains in my thighs and upper arms. After I took the medication, it would take 2 hours for it to work, and then it would only last an hour. My previous medicine took 20 minutes for it to take effect and lasted for 4 hours. I would never recommend this medicine. There are other ones out there that are better. My insurance covered it while on it with help from a foundation, but when I stopped using it, they no longer covered it."
