My Dr. added 50mg Pristiq 50mg due to the severe depression I couldn't stop. He also added Lamictal 100mg and Abilify 5mg also which I stopped 4 days ago due to the horror stories I read about it. I really need to know if Wellbutrin and Pristiq is a good combination. Thank you for your help.
I Take Wellbutrin 150mg and Pristiq 50mg a day; Is this a good Combination? Are both SNRI's?

I'm currently on pristiq 50mg and wellbutrin 150. I tried abilify which I couldn't tolerate. In addition I take 200mg lamictal. The drop in pristiq and welbutrin are less than a week change... , we'll see how it goes!
Wellbutrin and pristiq are fine however in my opinion abilify should be pulled off the market it is very dangerous and not that effective. I know of 3 people who wound up in the ER room from taking abilify. Hope this helps.

I take wellbutrin with Abilify along with Effexor and Abilify works very well. I have had absolutely no side affects with any of these Meds together. You should trust your doctor.

Hi, Sue! Pristiq, like it's parent drug Effexor, is an SNRI whereas Wellbutrin is classed as an atypical antidepressant because it primarily acts on dopamine, and to a much lesser degree on other neurotransmitters.
The two are an excellent combination as together they *cover more bases*.
As the others have said, you should never stop a psychotropic medication cold turkey or without your doctor's guidance.
I understand why you'd be frightened of Abilify, but it's an excellent add-on drug and is helping millions of people. The problem is that the horror stories you hear about are from the few people who had a bad experience (and no, it does NOT turn your brain to mush). Something to keep in mind is that tens of millions of people are taking Abilify and enjoying a happy, functional life.
Best wishes, WCV
I take welbutrin with Effexor and it works well for me. The welbutrin works on dopamine, while the pristiq works on serotonin and norepinephrine. I take Abilify also and have had no side effects at all. The higher doses of Abilify are what sometimes causes side effects.
Pristiq is a ssnri, while the welbutrin is what's called an A typical antidepressant, they are not the same type. The pristiq its a serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor the welbutrin works on dopamine. :^)
Wellbutrin is a good one with the other antidepressants. Did you taper off of the abilify and does your dr know you did it?
Did not taper from Abilify and no did not tell my Dr.
