I am 33 years, I have 4 kids. ( don't ask me how lol ) I have a very very high fear or pain and needles. I have waited to long to get my teeth fixed. When i was younger my mother couldn't afford a lot so i had bad teeth, when i was 15 i moved in with my father who took me to the dentist all the time. every month it seemed like. I was hurt once and because i was getting older i had to go to adult dentist which they treat you different then when your a kid. It up set me to never go back.
I also have XLH also know as Rickets. affect your Vitem-D and bones ect.
Now the time has come for me to have all top teeth pulled. I am having the IV to be put as far out as i can because I can't come to grips of doing this with out it. I cry and freak out the closer it gets to my appt. I have cancel to many times. lol
My mother got hers at 25 i think and i am 33.
What can I expect after they are pulled and I start to wake up?

Just wandering if you went through with the surgery? Mine is scheduled June 6th and I'm PETRIFIED
I believe she did.
I go June 28th too have 24 pulled and dentures put in same day. Been on different meds for 6 different autoimmune disorders and they dry my mouth out. About two years ago my dentist finally said he refused too do anymore work on my teeth and said he wanted to have me get dentures on top and try and save the bottom ones. The bottom ones are loose. I will be on the meds for the rest of my life so why try and save them? It was going too cost 2,000.00 just for the top plate. 3,000.00 too pull them and a little over 1,000.00 + to try and save the bottom ones. I found a place that my father in law and brother in law went to and their dentures look just like their regular teeth. To get a full set it is 288.00 but my total cost is 2,650.00. The rest is x-rays and pulling the teeth. I have four teeth that I'm really worried about, I have both wisdom teeth on top and the ones next to them.
I've already lost all my back lower ones due to botched root canals. I swear those never work, I have one lower root cans that is bad so I've spent a lot of money on 5 of them just too have them pulled.
Just reading all these posts sent me into a panick attack, I had too take a Xanax!! They told me I could bring some with me if I will need it. I said I will be taking one before but might need another as I know my anxiety level will be up.
I do have people ask me a lot why I don't smile, my teeth are in such bad shape because of the meds. When I was 10, I fell and chipped one of my front teeth. Two years it totally broke off, that's when the dentist said no more work. Now the tooth next to it, half of the corner chipped off. I have gotten a lot of cavities over the last two years since not seeing the dentist. My mom finally told me that I needed to get them fixed but I don't have the money. Thank God, she is going too pay for me to get them fixed. I just wish I could have had it done it like 2 years ago!!
Good luck to everyone in the same situation.
I had mine done on the 7th. They called and changed the date. There was no pain having them pulled at all. 24 hours after I was allowed too take my dentures out to rinse, I noticed that I have two molars that broke off at the gum line so, I have too go back in Tuesday to have them removed. I'm in a lot of pain still. I would do it all over again but I wish he had gotten the entire molars out because my mouth is still hurt and I don't want to go through more pain. They only gave my 8 ibuprofen 800 mg for the pain. Not working since I'm out already.
Did you get yours done dawnngrizz?
Did you get yours out yet?
I just had all my teeth pulled except 1 back tooth and 3 wisdom teeth I had already had pulled previously. It has been 6 days and I had them all pulled while just being numbed. I was able to wear my new dentures for 2 days before the pain became unbearable. Between the healing itself and now all the blisters in my mouth from the dentures and they only gave me 3 days of pain meds. I am still on a complete liquid diet of mostly water and ensure and that even hurts trying to drink that. I am miserable with no idea how long it may take to heal well enough to even comfortably eat mashed potatoes. Ive been through back and other types of surgeries so Ive been in pain before and dealt with it rather well but this has brought me to my knees. I would not get it done again. I'm not trying to scare but make others aware of what can happen. Its always nice to be prepared for the worst case scenario, just in case. Good luck to all that are dentist bound.
You have me scared now.
Hello i am 33 years old all my teeth were shot. I just recently had all of them pulled at once top and bottom. I wasnt put to sleep i was awake the whole time. I'm having all my teeth removed under a general anesthetic on the 12th February. What pain and symptoms will i get after all of my teeth have been removed
I am having 12 teeth extracted.I will not be put to sleep.I had 28 at one time..was not put to sleep.Wish i could be put to sleep.
Adults only have 32 teeth. Not 40. How is it you managed to obtain 8 extra teeth? Sounds like a bunch of bull malarkey lol
Think u need to recalculate your #s
That was my thought, how can you have 28 pull and now you're having 8 more?? Maybe you had a typo with the first number??
I just got the rest of my teeth extracted at the same time on Friday which was over 20 teeth. They put me to sleep and when I woke up I was a little groggy and drowsy still from the anesthia. As of today I am doing alot better. Have a little swelling in my face still but I am able to eat soft foods and talk. The bleeding stopped the next day. My dentist put me on Amoxicillin 3 times a day, Hydrocodone one pill every 4-6 hours which I try and not take. I replace it with IB Profen which I can take 600 mg which is 3 pills every 4-6 hours. I get my dentures fitted in 6 weeks when my mouth is healed...
Ive just had 6 top teeth pulled out today n denture fitted immediately. Never felt a thing when the teeth were being extracted. It felt very strange and feel like i'm talking funny. Starting to feel pain now that the anaesthetic is wearing off. How long does this pain last xx
I got to have all my teeth pulled n have dentures I'm going to b going 2 different places affordable dentures to have dentures made n dentist to have them pulled k this is my question do ur gums change a lot after having them pulled because the dentures I get will b my forever ones do I need to wait after extractions to heal before having them made how long does that take n how painful is having ur top pulled my mom always said its like having ur face ripped off n I'm not really comfortable not having teeth for a long length of time that's why I wanted to have them made first n put it after having them pulled
On October 22nd 2015 I had 25 extraction at one time I was put to sleep and when I woke up I had dentures put in I didn't want to wait anywhere from 2 to 6 months and be without teeth so they were immediately put in after the extraction I have a very high tolerance for pain but this was so painful I'm still not able to eat with my dentures in I'm only eating soft foods scrambled eggs yogurt applesauce soup has become my best friend the first week was the worst but I had a very good dentist when I went in she did adjustments because I have sore spots its been 3 weeks I still have some sore spots but it is so much better and the way that my teeth were hurting before I had them extracted I would do it all over again and go through the pain because now I'm able to drink ice water without my mouth hurting good luck and hope that you get to feeling better
I am waiting outside the dentist now to have 26 extractions and temp dentures put in. I am very nervous. I am here alone and will drive about 60mls home when done. This forum has made me relax some.
How did it go for you? I just made my appointment for my consultation. And I'm the type of person to freak out at the smell of a dentist office.
I'm having all of my teeth pulled Friday. I'm being given Norco and Ativan and will leave the dentist with temporary dentures that I'll have for 6 months. I'm looking forward to finally having a pretty smile but I'm extremely nervous. I just had surgery 4 days ago so am already dealing with belly pain. I'm praying I don't have a lot of mouth pain from the extractions and dentures.
I am 39 yrs young and just had 24 teeth or the rest of my teeth extracted on Monday August 24th 2015 . It is Friday August 28th 2015 now and my gums are still swollen . All I can eat is Oatmeal, Ramon noodles smashed up and ice cream. I have a lot of support from my family and my dentures fit great. I am getting the implant dentures in about 6 months after my mouth completely heals. I sure miss eating hamburgers and Mexican food my fav.
Hi. So as everyone knows this is my posting but I have been so busy I have not been able to write back.
I had my full mouth done on Oct 2014.
I went to a guy who does all types of Surgey. He was great. I was freaking out and crying. And before I knew it they had the IV in me and me 100 percent out a sleep. Woke up to Nothing in my mouth but my new teeth. I was on mess for I think 2 weeks. Everything went super well!!! I do need a new fitting for my upper teeth. My lower teeth are still fully mine. I clean my mouth like they said and ate things slowly. It took about 3 to 4 weeks to get back in the grove of really eating. You can eat anything you want just its up to u. It might feel funny but it gets better.
I am having 12 extractions done in the morning (top teeth) and having a full top denture put in place. I will posts results shortly after. Many family members have had this procedure done and stated the pain was minimal. So long as you follow "after care instructions". Good luck!!!
I have had so much trouble with my teeth my whole life. I had braces when I was in my teens. From there I took anxiety meds. I have a great fear about getting all of my teeth pulled, fot fear of what might happen to me. I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled when I was 17 I think. I had no trouble. But, things that I have heard scare me. When I had them pulled it seemed like minutes but I am sure the it took longer, I was knocked out. I think that if I am knocked out to have all of my teeth pulled I would do all right, I just can't afford to pay for it. I just don't want to go another day with this worry on me! I need HELP!
I was wondering if I have a Defibrillator and if having all my top teeth pulled would cause and harm ?
I would highly advise consulting with your cardiologist and dentist about this! Extractions can put stress on the heart.
I went to dentist today... am diabetic and also take meds for depression panic and anti seizure... they all cause terrible dry mouth... it harmed the enamel on my teeth so extractions of all top will have to come out and dentures same day... it sounds like some kind of torture. I am not so afraid of the pain cause I have some pretty powerful pain meds... I am just so afraid I will look funny with my new teeth... I am embarrassed and humiliated to have to do this..I have cried all day. I have a wonderfully kind and gentle dentist... I am just so embarrassed. Does anyone else have this problem?
Please check my sister in law had about 14 teeth pulled she had heart problems and the procedure put her in the hospital and later passed not trying to scare you
Maybe your procedure should be done in hospital
Yes, I have the same problem, I am so embarrassed of my teeth I been putting it off for years. My mouth is,a mess a lot of broken to the gums teeth in the upper back of my mouth..And I'm ashamed to sit in the dentist chair and open my mouth for the exam afraid they will talk about me..Can someone please help with encouraging words.I'm nervous about making an appt. And my tooth are beginning to hurt.I've cancelled several appointments out of fear...
I'm hoping by now a couple of years later that you have taken care of your teeth and have not worried about what dentist and their assistants say as they see teeth like that daily but worry about your health! Be Courage's and worry about you, not others! God has your back! :)
I am 50, tryi g to start life over. I went to free clinic needed all top teeth removed. Dentist decided to work from back till i get impression for dentures. I am not afraid of needles... he pulled permanent teeth. He said under teeth sometimes bone is soft... neexed few stiches... i think ,i didnt get a good job. Dont want to go back, but what can i do... All i could say is take care of your teeth.
I put everyone before me, and now i am in nursing school and want front teeth to look good, but all i do is do is dont show teeth.
... 5/29 all tops extracted and 1 at the bottom that broke. 2-4 days i got an inflection as they said i will in the bad area of my mouth that was rotted out pretty good. . but pain is nothing, just healing pain. the holes very senstive and tender and gum is kind of to. am 32. i had 13 tops 2 bottoms removed. the only pain i have gum pressure and my jaw is sore. from the piliers in my mouth but other than that. its all regular extraction pain. if got one pulled before no differnces just more holes to be more careful with. i hate yogurt so i eat mac n cheese and oatmeal. all day. drink shakes. i make fruits and veggies and stuff. my friend had her done before me so i had a coach and cook. just take meds and eat soft or painful it will get. tips no spicy no hot or real cold things. warm . check it out first you think its soft but your gums will say different. and dont coke thinking u can shallow noodles or small protions of something be smart eat smart.
suck on things dont let your mouth dry up. i suck on sugar free lollipops and sugar candy. without banging it around my mouth. gums still senstitve touch. don't be affraid to get improvments think of the smile u have soon ... ;]
I got my top teeth all done on Oct 2014.
I am truly happy now. At first I was very worry about how I would feel about my self. I do hate them face of taking them out and cleaning them every day. I don't mind using that stuff to make them stick better either. The Dr. I went to in OHIO was amazing. He put me to sleep. I felt nothing. The ride home I don't remember much. The mess we're good and I really didn't need them but they said for me to take them to help with swelling.
I did wake up with my new top teeth in. I was so worry about taking them out with in the 24 hours like they said. When I did I could feet the stitches. Kinda gross lol... A few weeks later j was able to eat again but still worry. He said for me to wait I think a month or something to use the stuff to help stick. Thanks to my mother who has had all her teeth removed when she was in her early 20's. She knew what stuff for me to get. lol. Now I eat what ever. It does suck that something j can't eat but I can't eat it cut up! Lol. Like apples!! Sticky candy I can but it depends on what it is lol. Him I'm ok with never eating.
Thanks again!! Glad yours when well!!!
Really need to do this for myself . Could u tell me who help u thank u
