I have taken gabapentin for at least a year my memory is not the same I search for words during conversations. My comprehension is not the same I find myself having to re-read sentences words that I should know how to spell or read have become difficult. It’s a little embarrassing sometimes What is the next step what can I do about this
Same here, I have gained a lot of weight. I thought it came with age. I have blurred vision and my memory if so bad, my daughters yell at me because of it. I don't know if I should stop taking it as all of these side effects have now scare me. The pain from the RA and Scoliosis, is more than I can bare. I need some type of relief.

This medicine gave me the worst brain fog ever. Even after I stopped using it. To this day I find myself searching for simple words or known phrases and must take any type of supplement to help my brain function
I find it interesting that an amino acid which is what gabapentin is, has this effect on so many people. I guess the gaba part messes with the brain neurons or something. How much were you taking? I know my memory isn’t what it used to be but I think it’s due to my age. Hope yours improves now that you stopped taking it.
I have been taking gabapentin since about 1998 for peripheral neuropathy eventually turning into pre-diabetic neuropathy, up to 1200 mg at one time for relief. I really got no relief. I did not know that my memory would be affected and that it was extremely addicting. I still take it. There really isn't anything else that says it will affect my neuropathy and help with relief.
I still take it and it is very noticeable that my memory is not good at all, also, I recently forgot to refill my prescription and went 4 days of painful withdrawals, Nightsweats, urinating every 20 to 30 minutes.
it was horrible. My memory was excellent up until the years of gabapentin took its tool. My occupation was that of a Colorado State Public Defender Criminal Investigator. I depended heavily on my memory. I no longer do that, I cannot spell like I used to be able to and have a very hard time recalling words, places and conversations that were second nature to me. In my opinion i cost me my career. I had to spell check this answer and many words were misspelled along with the grammar.
I took gabapentin for several years due to nerve damage from back surgery, even though I haven’t taken it in years I still have short term memory loss and other lingering side effects that I was not told about when it was prescribed to me.
What lingering side effects? Can I ask what your age is?
yes, I also suffer from short term memory loss that I first thought was part of aging. I take four 600mg doses per day, wow 2,400mg daily and have been for a couple of years. At first, it was where are my glasses which maybe normal stuff, but now I go to the kitchen open a cupboard and just stare having no clue what I was looking for, same for the fridge and often my closet??? I am also losing the enamel on my teeth. But I live in Canada, hope this helps.
I do suffer from memory loss, I didn’t know from what. I was taken off this medication because my liver enzymes were high. I was on high doses for a long time.
I haven't had any issues with it. Although it does not remove 100% of my nerve pain, it's one of the best medications I've had. We as patients are very limited as to what we could take these days for pain. I would hate to see this also off the market. Advocates are removing more and more of pain medications for us. What are we to do for pain after a while?
memory problems blurry vision been taking 6 per day for 10 years
I took Gabapentin for nerve pain for several years, my symptoms only grew worse so after some time I took myself off them. Do I qualify to participate in the settlement? I noticed while I was taking them that my bladder was less active, I still have issues today.
I can’t say I’ve had any major issues. I did have some weight gain related to edema; but after going on the carnivore diet I lost it all pretty quickly, I feel great about that all things considered. I take 400mg of Gabapentin TID (1200mg a day) for neuropathy.
Did the settlement past on gabapentin
To my memory loss
I’ve been on it for 5 yrs. , I’m not sure if some short term memory loss is due to gabapentin or my age (young 75 yr. old female) no weight gain, but find I have become impatient.

I have had problems after taking gabapentin
My mind is still not functioning properly. My kids always tell me “ yeah mom you already told me” . And I have experience a lot of weakness in my body.it’s scary. So what is the next step for all of us ?
i took myself off Gabapentin a week ago as i and a lot of others was noticing i was having a lot of issues with forgetting what i was to do or what i wanted to do and don't get me started on the weight gain or the mood swings. the minute i stop taking this drug i started to remember what i was going to do ... but i'm going to say gabapentin did nothing for my nerve damage as that what they said it would do infact i have to say the drug only destroyed my life instead of helping me and i have been on it for years and it has left me with life lasting damage results.i will never take this drug again ..i hope someone else can tell me if i will ever get better
How did you taper off?
I don't want to get that far, 6months for me. I need to taper from 1800mgs but it's been rough going
getting from 3600mgs. Horribly sick, ended up in the hospital last week, sodium deficient.
Does it get better ? I hope you get an answer. Me... gonna try to taper again soon.
I am starting to regain my cognitive abilities. Good luck !!
What issues? I’ve been on it since 2008. The only side effects I got was: weight gain & short-term memory loss.
