I have a dead tooth (K9) that broke and is very decayed, and of course, it causes me severe pain, I am unable to go to the dentist since I am pregnant and they will not treat me. I need something that is safe during pregnancy to relieve the pain until I have the baby and can deal with the tooth.
Recommendations please?!

I had unbearable tooth ache when I found this home remedies page I tried many of the remedies with little comfort getting up every hour trying the next remedy. I tried garlic, mouthwash, brushing my teeth, cloves, cayenne, and salt water. with little to temporary relief. In the past i would take 4 cloves of garlic and it always worked by the time morning came i had eaten 5 cloves of garlic and the pain was still there . So i just blended up 4 more cloves of garlic with carrot juice and within ten minutes the pain was completely gone. I have come up with a sure fire way to stop any tooth ache guaranteed.
Take 1 clove of garlic for every 20 lbs you weigh (For example if you weigh 160 lbs take 8 cloves).
blend the garlic with carrot juice and drink right after you blend it for best results. the carrot juice helps with the heat of the garlic.
I am pregnant also and when I signed up with soonercare I was told at the WIC office that if I have any bad teeth they need to be taken care of as soon as possible because the decay of the teeth and infections can poison the baby's blood and cause either miscarriage or other conditions and malnourishment in the baby. My tooth was hurting so bad that I had to go to the doctor, I got an exam which you can get during your first trimester, I found out that I had an infection in my tooth and I was prescribed amoxicillin. I was afraid to take it but I asked my prenatal doctor and she said amoxicillin is safe to take during pregnancy and that it is better to take it and get rid of the infection then to not take it and chance poisoning my baby. However you cannot get extractions done during your first trimester but you can during your second trimester.
What you want to do now is take care of that tooth and get the infection out and just brush your teeth several times daily, avoid sugars and rinse mouth out with salt water several times a day and do not eat on the same side of that tooth until you can get to the dentist and have it extracted. Also Tylenol is safe to take for pain I usually only take one when I can't handle the pain anymore I will not take more than that even though my doctor said Tylenol is okay. My dentist told me to come back in my second trimester with a note from my prenatal doctor saying it was okay because yes a dentist won't do it unless they have the okay to do it by your doctor. Soonercare and Medicaid both will pay for extractions and dental visits and your prenatal doctor and all perscriptions as well if you qualify in your state but I believe soonercare is only for Oklahoma and Medicaid is in most States.
Most dentist won't touch you during pregnancy. I would just continue to call different dentists and ask for advice on what is safe to take or see your own Doctor and ask them. I've had this same issue myself and my pain with terrible!
Hi Gracious,
I don't know why they won't provide dental care. They will use lidocaine to numb it which isn't going to hurt the baby at such a small dose.
It's way better than staying on any OTC pain meds all these months.
You want to be able to enjoy your pregnancy and not have to deal with a toothache!
I'd be afraid to even recommend clove oil or any toothache medicine to you because it gets absorbed into the body.
Why not call another dentist and get it totally fixed ?
Good luck to you !
