Stomach has been upset since begin taking this three days ago. Experiencing headaches, backaches, acid reflux and sinus problems. Is this common?

Yes indeed
Yes, it is common. I experienced an upset stomach at first.
So if you are experiencing headaches and acid reflex stay away from anything citric like orange juice and pineapple. Also if you drink soda try to only drink one or two a day and see if that works for the headaches. So you will also want to take carafate on an empty stomach an hour or two after eating anything. Also you will want to take it before bedtime. This could just be side effects of the medication, but try these few tips and see if it changes anything. 90% of people who take carafate have the back pain and headaches.
It would also be best if you avoided coffee and tea.
As for cooking it would be best to avoid spices & foods such as garlic, onions, hot peppers etc.
The above answer says to take one to two hours AFTER eating. I was instructed to take an hour BEFORE eating, so the stomach is coated prior to eating.
