I just need reassurance from someone that takes escitalopram that they start feeling better maybe after 5 or 6 weeks. I am only on 10 mg but my doctor does not want to raise my dose yet due to the side affects of going up. Anxiety is not as bad but days still struggle. But the depression is a lot more harder sometimes. Just need reassurance.

I have been taking citalopram going on 10 years. At first, the dosage was 20mg, now it's 10mg. In the beginning I became agitated, I felt that after a couple of weeks I should had seen some changes in my mood swings. Eventually, I saw some positive results in my behavior. With the assistance of my inner self, I target the core of my depression and one by one handle my mental pain.
Try this, let's see if we can take some burden off little bit, on the medication.
Vitamin(s) B-12, Gingko Biloba, L-Theanine, Energy, Evening Primrose, GABA in the morning. In the evening Valerian, Ginseng, Ashwagandha with Chamomile Tea.
These vitamins our known for being effective in eliminating stress, panic, anxiety, fear and mood swings.
Be careful with adding herbal, vitamin, and natural remedies to prescription medications. Besides having side effects of their own they can interact with many medications.
Be sure to consult with your pharmacist or naturopath.
Hi Molly did you stick with the escitalopram? I am on week 5 although I did a dose update after week 4 so I am kind of back to square one a little. Just wondering if you managed to see it through and did it start working well for you?
Hi, Molly!
Try to be patient and stay positive because it does take a little time before the medication is fully effective but you should be feeling better and better quickly now.
"How Long Does It Take For Escitalopram To Work?
Sleep, energy, or appetite may show some improvement within the first 1-2 weeks. Improvement in these physical symptoms can be an important early signal that the medication is working. Depressed mood, anxiety, and lack of interest in activities may need up to 6-8 weeks to fully improve."
Personally, I took Lexapro for over 7 years and it worked wonderfully for me.
Best regards and I hope it works well for you too. It's an excellent choice for both depression and anxiety disorders.
