I have been on Gabapentin 400mg caop 3x a day for peripheral neuropathy of my legs. I have been on this medication for years. I am happy with this med with minimal side effects.
I also take Rosuvastatin CA 20mg 1/2 tab at bedtime but I continually have arm and legs cramps mostly at night. Every time I have these problems, my doctor tells me to stop the Rosuvastatin until the cramps subside.
My question is: Is there a problem with mixing these medications. I continually get the leg and arm cramps and even take a muscle relaxer at night but my labs do not show any problems with the Crestor, so could one other medication be causing these problems or is it just the Crestor?
Rosuvastatin and Gabapentin side effects?

Hi TMM,
Gabapentin actually GAVE me muscle cramps. Have you been on both meds for the same amount of time or was the Gabapentin first?
Mary brings up an interesting point, I take a women's supplement with iron and Magnesium in it, and believe it helps to a small extent. Magnesium can be great for cramping muscles, however, if one takes too much, stomach upset can occur (ummm, frequent and unpleasant trips to the loo)!!
Best wishes to you,
I have been on Gabapentin for years and it helped my neuropathy. I am on a very high dose but all my doctors know that. My labs are good. The Crestor I have been on for about 1 year or so. Still my labs come back OK. They check them each time I complain about the cramps. I will be scheduled for a nerve conduction study and another radio frequency procedure which helped me last time. Seems the nerve may have grown back.
Thanks for the helpful info as always. My doctors are sometimes dumbfounded by my pain but at least they are working on it. P.S. I don't think I could take any more pills, I am just barely keeping up with the ones I have now.
Once again, THANKS WITH LOTS OF SMILES FOR THE HELP!
Hi again TMM,
Have you ever had a nerve conduction test before? If not, call your doc's office and ask if you can take Ibuprofen before the test. The doc may not want you to take anything (like a otc pain med) before the test, but if your doc will allow it, you may be happy you took some Ibu or Tylenol.
Let us know how the test goes?
Your friend,
Sweetlemon, I have had the nerve conduction study done before on my legs and the shocks didn't bother me. I am used to all sorts of pain. What does the Tylenol do? I take Norco 10/325mg daily. Would that make a difference? I haven't heard from the nerve study people yet, I will call them on Monday.Thanks...
Actually Tylenol does nothing for that test, is it an EMG? I found it terribly painful with fibromyalgia, they did it up my entire spine, arms and neck, and it really ramped up the pain for about a week afterward for me!!! You are a tough guy if that test doesn't bother you at all !!! I found it draconian and an antiquated way of finding out if there is nerve damage. There must be another test to determine that.
Electricity and needles, right? I believe they no longer do that test for fibro patients at U of Michigan Hospital.
Good luck to you, hope it is a piece of cake for you again!!!
Hi!I agree!I'm going for the same condution and was encourage by my neurologist t take pain med befor procedure!
I have chrontic pain, & take different meds than you, but I get muscle cramps during the night too in my legs & feet. I have found that by taking a supplement of Vit. C of 1,000 mg, really stops me from having the muscle spasms. I take other vitamins too, & magnesium would probably help with this problem. Good luck to you, hope this helps...
Hi Mary... hope you are well.
Have a great weekend,

Thanks, checked out the site and I don't fit any of those categories and my labs always seem to come back OK. Scheduled for a nerve conduction study so we will see what this brings up.
