I take (2 )400 mg. 3 times a day for fybromyalgia. That's the maximum dose.
Hi Glory, I've been taking gaba for about 5 years and my "normal" would be considered very high as everyone's "normal" will be different. I started very slowly, 100mg, but was able to reach a fairly high dose, 1,200mg 3 times daily, within 6 weeks. I use it for chronic back pain, migraines and anxiety.
It did help with my insomnia, at first but the affect slowly worn off for sleep. I've only had a few migraines since starting it and my back pain is not nearly as bad. It has definitely calmed my anxiety, along with 30mg Cymbalta. It's been truly life changing for me but, as I'm sure you're aware, everyone's body chemistry is different so please ask your Doc for all the info they can give you.
I have had ZERO ill-side affects and would recommend it to anyone who has struggled with many other meds not working for chronic pain and other related problems.
Hope this helps,
SC~
