I have been taking Bupropion XL for 11 days. The drug seems to be helping with anxiety and depression. My problem is that I have insomnia. I tried getting thru the night by not taking any sleep aids but found I was only sleeping 2-3 hours. Has anybody else had this issue and if so does the insomnia go away with a longer use Bupropion XL.
Does insomnia from Bupropion XL go away?

My experience w Bupropion is that it's helped tremendously w my extremely fluctuating emotions.
Leveled me out. Another bonus is helping w stopping smoking cigs.
Unfortunately I have bad RLS, and my sleep is the same ... a couple hours at night, then a couple during the day.
Even though I use Lidocaine on my thighs/calves, which does help w RLS.
I'm not sure if it's the Bupropion (I've taken for a year) or the RLS that's messed my sleep up.
Good luck
Doc told me to tough it out for 2 weeks and then make a decision on Bupropion XL. the last few nights have been better so I am going to tough it out. Thanks
It did the same to me when I first started taking it. I take it in the morning and that helps. I also take Seroquel at night as an off label for sleep. That works wonders for me. The smallest dose of Seroquel is 25mg but I cut it in half, works awesome as a sleep aid. As far as the insomnia, it does get better the longer you take it.
Thanks for your answer to my question. Insomnia seems to be my biggest side affect. How long before you felt the full impact of Bupropion XL?
I would say it took about a month. I went on Lexapro a short time later since Wellbutrin seemed to make my anxiety worse. The Lexapro counteracted the anxiety and worked great. The problem is that they both stopped working.
Thanks for your help.
