HIV Infection - What should I do about the side effects of Dovito and weight gain?

Are there any contraindications if taking ashwagandha at the same time?
What are the contraindications for taking sleep-aid supplements?
I have been taking Dovitro for over a year and have gained 4-5kg and am panicking about this increase. But I dare not take other drugs that improve sleep, lower cortisol and control weight at will, as they will affect the efficacy of Dovito! Please help me!!

Thank you for your answer! I manage my weight by exercising and controlling my diet. However, it is obvious that these methods are much less effective than before taking Dovito. Regarding sleep aids, I want to use Ashwagandha to reduce cortisol and improve sleep. Recently, I have been testing the quality of my sleep. Currently, it seems that the time for deep sleep is relatively short, only 3-4 hours. The main reason is that I don’t know whether ashwagandha will cause additional burden on the liver and kidneys, and whether it will affect the efficacy of Dovito!

I feel like I can relate to your problem losing weight on Dovato. Despite my original answer to your question, I have felt the same way. I don't count my calories anymore, but I did it so long that I pretty much know I consistently consume the ideal amount for my gender, age and activity level, or less. Yet I still can't lose this weight around my belly. I am not overweight, but my waist to hip ratio is much too high. That is why my doctor and I discussed starting me on Egrifta. I have been positive since 1991, so it is very possible that my problem is lipodystrophy. I sense your frustration and upset, and I feel the same way. I wish we could get some more answers. As far as the supplement you mentioned, unfortunately I am not familiar with that one. I have heard of it but never taken it, so I can't share any experience with you. The best thing I can suggest is to do some research online, but consider the sources. Ideally, it would be great if you could find others who have taken that same combination. Sorry I wasn't much help.

I take Dovato. Weight gain is not a common side effect of Dovato. However, the only way to deal with weight gain is to decrease your calorie consumption and exercise more. You might choose to count calories as I did to evaluate your calorie consumption, and modify it accordingly. And, of course, it is always a good idea to stay active as much as possible. I recently started on Egrifta injections for lipodystrophy. However, lipodystrophy is not the same thing as weight gain. The way I see it, your only other option if none of my suggestions help you to lose weight, is to talk with your doctor about switching to a different drug. Again though, I have to emphasize that weight gain is not a common side effect of Dovato. As for sleep aids, I have had no problem with them while taking Dovato. You don't mention which specific sleep aid you are using or would like to use, but I would suggest if you are concerned about it that you check for interactions at the drugs.com website.
