I was recently alarmed to find that my girlfriend has been taking what I consider to be an excessive dosage of diphenhydramine as a sleep aid. She has been averaging 30 25mg tablets a night (750mg). After doing some research online I came up with a number of answers for what is considered to be a safe dosage. One was 400mg/day, another was 700mg/day (I thought this number was high) another was 5mg/kg or 300mg for a 60kg person. In any case I am concerned that routinely taking this dosage (750mg) will damage her body, not to mention have negative psychoactive effects.
What is the maximum safe dosage of Benadryl/diphenhydramine as a sleep aid?

Hi! What's the issue with your girlfriend's sleep pattern? Can't fall asleep? Can't stay asleep? I was both. There could be some underlying issue that is affecting her sleep. For me, I was diagnosed as being bipolar, so it was the depressive and manic stage that affected my sleep. I got on the medication, but it made my sleep even worse. I took some CBD oil and I broke out all over my body. Gross. Lasted for a good week before I began to even get better. I tried CBD again, but I vape it. Now I sleep like a baby. I pull about 10mg each night for a restful 9 hour sleep. 10 hours is the perfect amount for me, but I'd have to sleep really early to get that 10 hours and will probably still be late to work. For reference, I am female, 5'2" and 100 lb.
