Hi denisey. Gabapentin is not a controlled substance. It has been prescribed for nerve pain. Depending on the source of your pain, will determine which medications should work best for you. If you want to review the medication, click on "Drugs A to Z" at the top of this page and scroll down to this medication. I believe it is also called "Neurontin." I hope this medication works well for you. It may take a few weeks to feel the full effects of this medication.
Best wishes,
chris
