I have an old persription and I have not been able to sleep do to extreme stress and I do not have heath insurance would this be safe.

Hello BODO. Most drug families, the hynotics, benzodiazepine, tri-cyclics, ssri etc are given a year from the date the perscription is filled. Then, its recommened not to use it any longer. Does it mean that in this case the restoril isn't effective, or not working to its full poential, no not at all. Its an FDA guideline. Best of wishes to you,pledge
I wouldn't be concerned with taking the older restoril at all. Restoril, while being a benzo, is for sleep rather than anxiety. I would give it a try.
