the other side, suddenly? I don't quite know what is going on here, but one side of my body hurts much worse than the other. This has been going on for about three weeks, so I know it's no sports injury, nor did I lift any piano's lately.
Thank you in advance to anyone that answers!

Absolutely, I have had fibromyalgia for years, and it is getting worse as I get older. I use to swim a great deal, and now I can´t even do it anymore. My left side is definitely worse than my right. I have tried all medications, but I seem to get ALL the side-effects. It is tough to live with fibromyalgia.
Yes that is how it started for me about 6 years ago and it still is that way. My right side has a terrible burning and very sore muscle aches and I first had started on lyrica but my new Dr switched it to Gabapentin because I started to have small seizures that would last for a couple of minutes. I was diagnosed with that when it happened while I was in an appointment with my pcp. Needless to say after I started taking gabapentin my symptoms receded. I suspect that congenital problems that I have in my neck contributed and made worse my symptoms. I am glad that the symptoms are under control with the Gabapentin. So yes the symptoms can affect one side of the body or the other at least that is how it has affected me. Good Luck!
Thank you bnagoh, for your answer.
Good luck to you too
Hi MacIntosh, I have had fibro all of my life, but wasn't officially diagnosed until 1992. With all the other problems I have, the answer I would have to give you is yes, it can be worse on one side of the body then the other at times. As the others have said, if you have unconsciously move something, or just turn the wrong way, it can surely make one side hurt worse than the other. We have so many trigger points, it's hard not to overstress a few here there that we don't even realize we have done so until it starts to really ache or hurt. Just changing a light bulb by either climbing on a ladder or reaching up to the ceiling can set my shoulders on fire & my legs from stepping up to flare terribly. I have found a good massage on those trigger points really helps along with soaking in a hot shower or tub or using a heating pad first. It really loosens things up a bit. If you can, use a chiropriactor often.
Getting your spine aligned, where your legs are the same length, & their wonderful massage, heat & other therapies do wonders. I used to go about 3 times a week before my bones started to break so badly. Going to PT & OT also help by teaching you how to reach for things & do the correct exercises to keep yourself limber. Also warm water exercises help too. Our local YMCA has one day a week where they warm the water & let fibro & arthritis patients use it for free. Might want to check that out where you live too. Some PT's have their own pools they will let use also. I have found that yoga is a great execise program for fibro too. It is a very gentle streching that warms up all your sore spots. Another thing to try is to make yourself use your less dominant side do a lot of things you normaly wouldn't do. I force myself to dust with my left hand so I am getting equal stetching on both sides. Just little things like that can really help. Oh, & warming up with a few stretching exercises before starting any project will help also(I'll take that old piano too if you really want to get rid of it!)...
For me Fibro tends to be bilateral but it is not uncommen to have one side or area hurt more than another. I get monthly massage to help the fibromyalgia. She always tells my my left hip is always more sensitive and tighter than the right. But every once in a while I surprise her and it has switched to the right side. That is the fun of having fibro. With my monthly massage(for 90 minutes) and monthly trigger injections I do get some relief. I just wish it was enough not to need pain medication on a daily basis. Unfortunatly I have mulitple chronic pain issues. Again not uncommon with Fibro. try taking a warm bath befire bd if your having trouble sleeping. I need a hot shower most mornings just to relax my muscles. I hope you feel better and keep us posted. but please go to the doctor if this continues to make sure there is not another underling cause for the pain.

Thank you to Sheila, Mary, kaismama, and Lisa. Much appreciated.
What type of injections do you get? I go to a medical massage therapist about 2 times a week and she's pretty much game to try anything I've read or heard about. She's been doing cupping randomly on my gimp shoulder, which is how I found this thread, I swear it's the main trigger area for me. Everything starts with my left shoulder.
We called it the pain of the week, the bad pain would wander around, almost on a weekly basis. My legs have always had a habit of the right one hurting more then the left.
Hey Mac, while I don't have fibro, my daughter does and yes, she's complained of this before. To the best we can figure, it's usually on her "dominant" side and she will unconsciously use that side, or put more weight on that side, than she does the other. I try to remind her to switch sides when she's holding, or carrying, the baby and especially the two year old. I've seen her load up to go to the car and she'll be toting everything on the left side and holding the car keys with her right. I do the same thing. I think we all need to make a conscious decision to distribute weight we carry more evenly.
You slacker you - I'm sure there are dozens of pianos waiting to be moved at your house. Get on it girl!!
Hugs, Lisa
Thanks Lisa, and you are SO right, there actually IS a piano that needs to be donated!!
It's good to know that someone else has this, the one side thang. Not good to know your daughter has fibro of course, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy... I don't have any enemies that I know of, but I still wouldn't wish it on anyone!
LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE, thanks for the giggle girl!!
