I've been on Contrave for 13 day and went up to three pills a day two days ago. I the past two weeks I've had worse cravings than before and gained 8 pounds. Took Quysmia before and that didn't help- increased depression. Have read some people don't see the effect until three a day, but has anyone gained weight then lost it?

I've been on contrave for a month. The side effects just started to go away, except it does tend to still make me tired. After 3 weeks I lost 3 pounds. Then this week, I gained 4. I only take 1 pill a day. My dr wants to increase it to 2 a day. I was really hoping for about 5 pounds the first month.
Hello, I'm 65 years old and I am hoping to lose 55 pounds before December. I am on week three of Contraves. I have had mild side effects. Two days ago, I step on the scale, and I lost (12 pounds).
The key for me was the low-fat diet. Contraves has really reduce my desire to eat.

I’ve been taking Contrave for 7 days, one pill a day, increasing to twice daily tomorrow. So far I’ve gained 6 pounds.. I’m very discouraged but will continue to week 4 in hopes something will change. No other side effects, I eat when my stomach rumbles. No headache, my depression has weakened. Will update in 3 weeks!
Like others I am relieved to find this threat - up to 2 pills in morning 1 pill at night.
Cravings are insane and have gained almost 10 pounds in less than three weeks. Very surprising and wondering if any point continuing after one month?
I have been on contrave for 6 weeks and have gain 500 grams. I’m in my mid 50’s, very disappointing! I will finish the treatment as it cost me $140.00 I hope I can see some results soon!
Yes I gained 10 lbs in a month and the cravings were crazy. I went back to my ozempic. Contrave is a joke
Greetings,
I was advised to try Contrave 3 weeks ago. Me thinking I would see great results by the way they talked this drug up paid $120 for the prescription.
I did everything by the books!
I started to notice that every time I took this drug I was extremely sleepy, I also became irritated. I just didn't feel right. I started to look like I was gaining weight, even though I was working out. So, long story short went to a new dietitian yesterday, and found out after 16 days of contrave I gained 13 pounds.
The first month on Contrave, I gained 2 lb, that was on 1 pill for the entire month, with no increase up. I am on the second month, at 2 pills per day. In what I have been reading, I really thought that the increase to 2 pills was going to be the magic trick. I am about 3 weeks into the 2 a pill days. I have continued to maintain/gain a couple of pounds. No weight loss yet whatsoever. Perimenopausal, age 50. I am super disappointed with this medication. I am at the point where I think about eating all day again, and I was eating really healthy, but lately all I have wanted is garbage and carbs, which is the complete opposite of how I normally eat when I am not on this drug. I think that I am going to tell my doctor that I am not interested in this drug anymore whatsoever when I have my next upcoming visit next week.
I’ve had the same issue. Can’t take more than two a day they make me feel funny. Lost my sweet tooth a couple years ago, since I’ve been on the Contrave craving sweets again. I am not a happy customer.
So glad that I am reading this. I am going into week 2 and I am craving like crazy. One pill morning 2 pills at night. I paid 120 for 90 days worth of pills. High price. Hope the cravings stop.
Yes I gained weight. I had intense sugar cravings. I couldn’t find any info for it at the time. I noticed it but thought I was crazy. I started at 176. They sent me a scale and I gained up to 183. Then went up to 189. I think I gave it 8 weeks and tapered off. I got up to 198 over the past year of being off it. I can’t seem to get this weight to budge.
I must say that I am relieved to know it is not just me. I feel everyone’s disappointment as well. I had the gastric sleeve 3 years ago and have kept the weight I’ve lost off with no problem. I felt amazing this whole time. I still needed that boost to lose 25 more pounds to reach my ultimate goal weight, and is the reason I tried Contrave. Now, I am heavier than my initial sleeve weight loss, which is so depressing in and of itself. My symptoms on Contrave: uncontrollable cravings, excessive eating/snacking, depression, emotional and crying for no good reason, increased fatigue, increased sleep, increased blood pressure, lost of interest, loss of energy and motivation to exercise (which I was doing daily), and ultimately, an 8lb weight gain. I have to add, my sleep turned into a coma-like sleep where I could barely function even after waking up.
Needless to say, I reduced them down to 1 per day for 3 days and then threw the remaining straight into the garbage. I noticed an improvement in symptoms after the 3 days when I went from 2 to 1 a day. I am so happy to be off of it. I am seeing my MD this week to get back on track as quickly as possible. Godspeed to everyone.
Ive been on contrave for 3 months now and the weight loss comes in waves for me. I started at 215lbs and I'm 179 lbs now. My doctor is super happy, he believes i will get down another 40 lbs, which would put me back at my pre-pregnancy weight. Before i started he said i was a perfect candidate and if I can stand the nausea, I can lose 80 pounds. He said if it doesnt, there were a few other to try. But this one works really good for me. The only thing is I'm not really losing too much weight in my stomach area yet, just all over. Mind you, I have had 3 c sections, recent one was 1 year ago. I only blow up when I get pregnant and I have to work hard to get it off, and then pregnant again... so maybe thats why it works so well for me, my body is usually not obese and I feel like its muscle memory or something. The weight loss has also been so fast my skin is looser then when I work out to lose weight.
The nausea was sooooooo horrible, everytime I increased my dose and or I wait too long to take my dose, or if I eat too much. You cant eat a lot ok this pill or you will feel sick. I waited to change my dose on the weekend to get thru the side effects. Ive been pregnant 3 times. Ill put up with the side affects to continue to melt this fat off with out lifting a finger. Its amazing.
I am on Contrave for almost 10 weeks. I am on the full dose. I have not lost ANY weight. I am also following weight watchers for the same amount of time. It’s very discouraging.
My appetite and cravings increased when I bumped up to 2 pills per day. After reading this I'm going to wean myself off.
