Hi, cherpo!
According to the literature here there's about a 10% chance of drowsiness with either buspirone (BuSpar) or lamotrigine... the mood stabilizer I take along with buspirone. I also checked for interactions and that says the combination could increase side effects like drowsiness. It most likely would be temporary as you adjust to the new medication.
Personally, I've been taking that combination for years with no problem for Bipolar ll depression. There are other mood stabilizers but they come with side effects too.
Your best bet might be to ask a pharmacist or the doctor who would be prescribing for you.
Best regards, Wildcat
Thank you, Wildcat. I’m new to Buspar and don’t know what to expect. I guess none of us do. Guess I’m afraid of adding yet another medication, but we’ll see.
Good luck! I know how you feel because I have to take a lot of medications. I just keep reminding myself what my life was before them... it wasn't pretty.
