Also does it cause stomach cramps only been on it three days and noticed after taking it my stomach starts cramping don't know if it's because it's a new med and my body isn't used to it or a side effect
When do side effects occur in the beginning of trying uspar or after I have been on it for a while?

You can start to experience side effects in as little as an hour or two to several days after starting a medication.
Abdominal distress affects about 1-10% of BuSpar users but it generally resolves within a few days to a week or so.
I've been on buspirone (BuSpar) for several years. It's been very effective for me with no long term side effects but most people say it can take 2-4 weeks to become fully effective.
So be patient and if the cramping continues let your doctor know about it.
thank you, you answered my question and been very helpful this is only the third day I have been on it I know it takes time to become full effective I have all the patience in the World to put up with a few side effects but more than a few I don't know if I could handle that but never been on this medicine, I also take Abilify and Lexapro once at night. So, I am always Leary trying something new but will continue it as long as it helps me and no side effects one I always worry about with anxiety meds and antipsychotic med sis weight gain had that one on others I been on seen it listed on Buspar it was a small percentage that got that side effect like 0 to 1 percent or something like that so I wont worry too much about it.
I haven't gained an ounce since I started taking it. If you didn't gain weight from your Abilify or Lexapro it's pretty unlikely that you will on BuSpar.
BTW, I also took Abilify and Lexapro and didn't gain on them either. A large majority of people don't but you only hear about the few that have.
Take care and good luck.
I did in the beginning gain some weight on Abilify but I have been on it for years and haven't gained anymore on it which is good the cramping has let up some or stopped maybe it was because it was a new med I never been on before. And also it says to take three a day I am taking two a day instead Morning and Evening just to see how it works for me three times a day is a bit much I think when trying a new med if I need to I will take three once I get used to the Buspar tomorrow will be day 5 I have been on it so far the side effects were diarrhea and cramping but that has gone away now hopefully those were all the side effects I had and wont have anything else I will be patient and give it time to work 2-4 weeks I should be feeling really good and have little to no anxiety is what I am hoping it helps with Best regards to you as well and thanks for the advice.
