Chains and local have mentioned a shortage. I'm thankful I got mine filled two weeks ago. I would like to know if this is widespread. I am mainly referring to the BARR manufacturer, the peach color 20 mg IR. At this point I will take whatever they may have at my next refill. I really cannot stand this uncertainty.
Is anyone here also experiencing an Adderall generic IR shortage as of February 2019?

I only ask for the purpose of learning of whether or not this is something fairly small and random, or on a worrisome type of level, if that makes sense.
A coworker told me something that I cannot find any info about . She said the shortage had to do with the damage in Porto Rico, bc that’s where they are manufactured.... ? I know not to believe everything someone says, yet curious if that’s even remotely been heard of .
Thank y’all

Because the DEA controls the number of Adderall pills a pharmaceutical company can produce. Because the DEA wants to show progress keeping Adderall out of the hands of abusers. Because the DEA has demonstrated they don't care how much hardship legitimate users have to endure because of their numerous regulations. I suspect the prime suspect in the shortage is the DEA.
Have you ever heard of a federal law enforcement agency misbehaving. Think Fast and Furious ATF, plotted and executed a coup to overthrow the president of the United States FBI etc, etc, etc...
I live in northwest Florida and the Walmarts here ran out of All strengths of Adderall (round orange pills. Is that Sandoz?). now we've been through Hurricane Sally and we're trying to clean up and all this time I've had no adderall. I love this site and I'm trying to learn more about the different manufacturers and different effects thank you
Here it is Dec 30th and still no Adderall. I've been taking Adderall XR since the summer as I cannot get my Adderall 60mg IR. What is going on here?? The XR does not work for me as well and now I'm having a hard time finding it. Took my script into Rite Aid in Maryland last week. They said the XR will be in on this Thursday but they've given me two dates already and nothing yet. I've been on the IR for around 15 years now, except for this year.
I have been having a terrible time with mine. I live in Seminole, FL. and I thought I had it straightened out with my pharmacy.I have ADD and take 30mg of Adderall twice a day, but my Insurance will only pay for generics. Most of the U.S. manufacturing companies work fine, but one brand made by Aurobindo Pharmacuticals either doesn't work for me, or it's just plain junk. I have asked my pharmacy not to give me that brand, and usually they cooperate, but last month they claimed that's all they could get. So I went to other pharmacies and got the same story and, because I wasn't a regular, they were keeping theirs for the regulars. I ended up getting the one from the company I didn't want, and I might as well took baby aspirin. I've been having a hard time this month, and it scares me about next month. These companies need MORE regulations.
I must warn you that Publix generic adderall is horrible. It gives me horrible anxiety and makes me jittery. I’ve been taking adderall for a decade To treat my adjusted and I’ve never felt like this after all pharmacy’s being out or wanting to charge outrageous prices I settled. The bottle says Amphetamine salts. Good luck.
I have been out of my orange tablets since August 2019. They are giving me these white octagon shaped pills with and M on one side and a 30 on the other. They don't work that well for me and these give me headaches, like nauseated headaches, I feel dizzy when I turn my head from side to side ( when I'm driving). I'm in Wisconsin and no pharmacy has the orange 30mg Adderall at the moment...
It looks like all the major manufacturers haven't produced it for a few months, but they won't say why. Frustrating!
Does anyone else have these white pills? Is anyone else experiencing these symptoms?
I have the White Octagon 30 mg your taking too. Fortunately I haven’t had those symptoms. But now I also have now the round pink 345 30 mg . I used the orange Teva 30 mg for years but they are definitely not making them any more. Your lucky enough to find a pharmacy that even has any Adderrals. I just paid another $75.00 for my prescription because they don’t carry my insurance.! It’s all too much for me to handle and honestly I’m exhausted from all of it
As of September 2019, there is an amphetamines salt 30mg shortage in Eastern Tennessee. I called publix, Walgreens , cvs, Kroger, and Wal-Mart. No one has it! Finally, I call Costco and they have it. I went without my rx for four days. Wal-Mart was the only store that wouldn't tell me over the phone if they had it in stock.
I've never had this much trouble trying to find it. Wal-Mart suggested getting a different dose rx to me in the equivalent amount. I.e instead of 60 30mg generic adderall get the amount equal to that in 15mg or 10mg. I never got my rx switched over to find out if there is a shortage in the 10mg or 15mg as well.
Good luck. I hope everything works out for everyone.
Glad you found them but 10mg or 20mg are gone as well because so many people have had to do just that . Get lower doses to equal there 30 mg dose. It’s a cluster f—k
Good luck to all for next month
ugh so annoying how they get all weird about not saying so over the phone . I’m sorry you had to go days without .
And you’re def right about the swapping around diff MG s to equal your prescription MG
Back early this year when it was REALLY bad here in Alabama, I remember pharmacist literally just working so hard with trying to get many peoples filled and trying hard to break the doses into different mgs . In our case we had most often 30s and 10s.
Today I found out that after things had been going well, all the sudden WALMART doesn’t have any .. I’m like okay .. so I go to Publix and thank goodness they had them. I’ve never seen these new generic though . They are orange (peach) color , with a normal font “A” on one side
Good luck feel free to update anytime
Every wall greens that I have called is out of them to in Connecticut
Unfortunately these shortages occur on a yearly basis. I was told that pharmaceutical companies are only allowed to manufacture a set of mount of this type of prescription drug and are only allowed to increase the manufactured amount by 10% from the previous year. These shortages occur because of the production/manufacture limits that FDA places on pharmaceutical companies that make generic Adderall. For example if a company made 100 pills in 2018 the most they would be allowed to produce in 2019 would be 110 pills as production cannot exceed more than 10% from the previous year.
This was told to me by a retired pharmacist and is an explanation I feel makes the most sense.
I am disappointed that medications that come with a warning to never stop taking medication without consulting doctor or pharmacist due to health concerns doesn't seem to matter to insurance companies or pharmacies as neither seem to be concerned for patients when they refuse to cover or fill prescriptions for patients that have been taking them on a monthly basis for over a decade. Insurance companies now decide what patients can take and not take and pharmacist generally side with the insurance company mandates without regard to considerations of the patient's health related risks for being forced to stop a medication "cold turkey". Insurance companies are playing the role of doctor and making decisions on what medications a person is allowed to take. My current insurance company only approves ADHD medications for people under age of 21. In order for me to get the same prescription I've been on for 20 years. 20 mg amphetamine salts (2 in morning + 1 in afternoon) 60 mg total a day. My doctor now has to do multiple explanations, fill out forms go through multiple hoops explaining why he is prescribing this medication. It's terribly inconvenient and stressful to drop off prescriptions at a pharmacy to find out that the same insurance company I've had for years is once again denying my prescription and requiring my doctor to do to through a bunch of ridiculous hassle multiple times a year to explain why I am being prescribed a medication that records show I've been on it for decades.
I take "drug holidays" on a regular basis every month and I might feel crappy for a few days but I think it's a good thing to do. It's stressful when insurance companies and/or pharmacies change policies that result in patients being forced to go off medications abruptly with little regard to the side affects involved.
it’s a sad story for all of us and I don’t believe it will get better.
How dare the insurance companies that we are paying into subject the doctors instructed prescriptions. Honestly if you could I would tell them to F—k off and find another company. That’s absolutely incredulous especially now with all the other issues just finding them.
And just for the record, because I couldn’t fill my prescription anywhere and went to a neighborhood pharmacy which didn’t accept my insurance I was charged $75.00 for the 30 Adderall and had to bring my other prescriptions to them as well. Talk about being held hostage. ??
I agree. I feel the most concerned about health insurance and prescriptions. How would things go if i suddenly could not afford my lamictal Zoloft Clonazepam?? I hate taking daily meditation but it is what it is. Completely stopping any of those medications would be soo horrible, all at once even worse, like dangerous.
To add onto the adderall and insurance hassle, we have yet another hurdle for the controlled medication, ESPECIALLY adderalls/stimulants. I seriously hate that people abusing these meds have made it so difficult. Same for the pain patients having to go without.
Do insurance companies do the hassle thing on purpose? To make it a little less likely that a prescription would have to be covered? I’m not being paranoid, just curious.
Thank you for your answer btw.
I've been trying to fill my script for 30mg tablets for a month now. I've checked with 7 pharmacies here in New Jersey and STILL no one can give me any answers on the problem.
Your right. I dealt with the same Walgreens in Ft Lauderdale for years. Spoke with him today has NO CLUE to what’s happening.
I started my run earlier then usual to see if I can find something. Same story. Then I thought why not go to a small mom and pop pharmacy again and so I did. Their right in my neighborhood. I explained myself and guess what they do have my meds. But and of course there a But.. do not accept insurance, calling my Dr for verification?? I don’t know but they will have them ready for me on due date Thursday . Whatever I have to do but can’t run around in 100 degrees weather looking.
Just left Walgreens, they are out of 30mg ir
The whole state of Massachusetts according to the pharmacy. Now I have to go back to my doctor and ask him to rewrite a script for 20 mg IR . What a headache with all the politics have to go through so they don’t think you’re trying to pull a fast one
Not sure where you live in MA but there is a pharmacy in Waltham that has 30MG IR. That's what I am subscribed. They filled mine today. It's called Watch City Pharmacy. Hope this helps you find some if you're still looking...
Thanks anyway, but I got my doctor to write 20mg IR. Hopefully by October I’ll get back the 30s Ir
As of today September 7, I'm also having a difficult time finding 30mg Adderall in stock. I live on the SC Georgia border and 9 pharmacies (that I called so far) btw the two states are on backorder. I was not aware of the shortage bc my most recent refill was July 26 with no problem. Pharmacy also suggested having script rewritten for 20mg tablets. Was given no time frame for when they may get a shipment.
Hey - that’s so weird !! I’m hoping it’s just a small isolated situation that will resolve ASAP. I have not had a problem with the shortage since around maybe April 2019.
At one point the pharmacies were scrambling to try to help many customers by combining different MGs in order to equal the prescribed MG dosage. Like, they had some 30 mg in stock, they’d also have some 10s in stock, etc. ultimately there was an entire shortage of all IR, with 20s being the most affected.
I’m terribly sorry this is occurring in your area!! This is why I have not closed the question status, as I think it’s important to hear any and all reports of shortages despite having (great super helpful) answers already.
Update this if you get the chance, and I absolutely hope you get your meds as soon as possible.
Also, I will add that TEVA BARR generic is my main one and luckily favorite of the few other generics for amphet salts.
Good luck my friend
My Pharms didn’t even have 20, or 10 or Time Release
I DID READ AN ARTICLE that said a new company going to be releasing generic Adderall. . It said they realized that there’s a tremendous need and maybe the others just stopped making them? The article said end of 2019 . Praying for this to happen soon
The corepharma stopped manufacturing their adderall generics. Most recently I received a new (or atleast new to me) generic and it’s actually just as helpful (for me atleast ) as the main ones made by TEVA-Barr. Most the time, new generics for controlled substances (in my experience) are just awful.
I am super glad this seems to not be the case with this generic. I can’t remember what the manufacturer is, I do know that it’s the same peach color and has a regular ‘A’ on one side.
So that may be the one you read about.
And I do know that there had been one manufacturer that just quit making theirs.
Hopefully things get better ASAP. My Walmart was out of adderalls, but my Publix had the aforementioned ones.
Still experiencing a shortage on the 30 mg especially the Teva and bar bran it seems to have been going on for a good while and now it’s culminated with the fact that you can’t find any 30s and only if you find pharmacies with common sense will they make up your 30 mg tablets with 20s and tens specially if you’re wanting a particular brand
Sept 2019 - I've been trying to fill my prescription (20mg) for over a week. Pharmacy says it's on back-order and they have no idea when they will be getting it in. This is a busy CVS near a large hospital in metro-Detroit. Anybody having any luck at other pharmacies?
I take 30 mg (peach) twice a day immediate release and it is completely out in South Florida. My doctor had to give me a new prescription for 20mg 3 times a day instead. I called 50 pharmacies before one finally told me to have my prescription changed. This has been going on for this whole year. It has been hit or miss for the 30mg. Thank goodness I finally was able to get it refilled
I also wanted to add that the Walgreens in my area get their shipments on Monday morning so when and if they come in the best time is Monday mornings instead of later in the week as they are usually out by then and are only allowed to order so many. So there's that too.

So better to ask for 20 mg instead of 30?
I’m in S Florida too.
Thank you for that info..
have you ever tried the Publix Pharmacy ? My step daughter gets the time release 30 with them. Going through Dorian today. Thankfully just really bad storm. Hope your safe
I tried Publix but they were out of 30 mg immediate release. And they were not helpful at all . Could have cared less actually. If you can't find your prescription ask your doctor to tweak it . The hurricane missed us. Just got home from the beach. It was gorgeous.

And I had my doctor change my prescription from 30 mg 2x a day to 20 mg 3 x a day. The very nice pharmacist at Walgreens in Pembroke Pines suggested this and I was able to get it filled after being out for 5 days.

I’m going to check tomorrow with my Walgreens to see what they have . One of the pharmacists is cool with me I’m in Ft Lauderdale on the beach . and when he has been out he’s gotten a refill for me next day. The other pharmacist at another one just yelled to the girl Were back ordered. Like I didn’t even deserve his time . I didn’t even know what that meant?? Anyway, I’m praying for a miracle. I can’t deal with this chasing my medication BS.. if I fall asleep at the wheel because I didn’t have anything to take I wonder how that would go over with my Dr and the pharmacist.
