For Constipation "I was diagnosed with IBS-C a few years ago, so it's been a struggle trying to become and stay regular. I take Miralax a few times a week, but it doesn't seem to do much unless I take a full capful, and then it does too much. So anyway, my boyfriend had been complaining of constipation, so I took him to Walgreens to grab some Mag Citrate. I decided to grab a bottle as well. We returned home, drank the 10 oz bottles (I got Cherry, he got Lemon -- both taste horrible -- very very sour, so just down it!) and before we knew it, after about two hours or so, we were both fighting for the bathroom. Literally fighting! Luckily, we have two restrooms, but one is on the other side of the house, and when you gotta go, YOU GOTTA GO! This stuff is wonderful!"

For Constipation "Awesome. I wish I had known about this little glass bottle years ago. I had always known that it was ingested before a colonoscopy, but I assumed there was a special reason. I know now! I am a very regular person. Very. Lack of fiber, a new hormonal contraceptive, and tons of caffeine caused a stop-up. I was ready to punch someone in the face. Drank a bottle at 6:30 pm. Got a little worried because I was told it was almost instantaneous. I got disappointed and just decided to sleep. Woke up at 5 am and BAAAAAMMM! I feel so much better. And not only does it taste really tart (cherry)... but it was only a buck, and it didn't cramp like an oral laxative pill."

For Constipation "I took that magnesium citrate, and in about 2 hours, my stomach was ready to let the waste go. I was deeply constipated and couldn't poop for about 2 and a half weeks. Also, for the 2 weeks, I drank water and had a lot of fruits and veggies to keep my system working. If you take the citrate and it doesn't work, it doesn't mean you have a blockage, it just means you don't have enough fiber, and I would suggest after drinking citrate to have a lot of water to keep yourself hydrated and eat a banana to get the fiber you need. Well, I just finished and feel actually good."

For Constipation "My God. This stuff works. I was constipated for like 4 days, which is unusual for me. I went to urgent care because no matter what I tried, nothing would work. Then I was recommended magnesium citrate. I took the whole bottle with a glass of water and waited for the impending doom. I had to call out of work because of how bad I was pooping. It literally was peeing out of my butt. Drink a lot of water. Your body gets so dehydrated. I wouldn't take the whole bottle next time unless it was an emergency. Also, wipes are your best friend. It feels like my butt is on fire at all times, which makes it hard to go because it hurts, but I know I need to get it out. I’m writing this review at 1:30 in the morning. I took it at around 11 in the morning. I definitely would carve out some time for this medicine to do its thing because it’s been 14 hours (ish) and I’m still going. It’s slowed down, but every time I think I'm done, my body surprises me. Good luck, everyone."

Citrate of Magnesia (magnesium citrate) for Constipation "I have been stressed for many months. My nutrition and water intake have changed, and my stomach has been uncomfortable for over a week. I chilled my 10 oz bottle for 30 minutes and had dinner. I drank it around 7:30 and thought I was ready by 8. False alarm, but by 9:45, it began to work. The drawback is, almost a day later, I'm being cleansed. I used the lemon flavor. To make the taste more bearable, chill it and use a mint afterward. Make sure to drink 8 oz of water as the instructions state."

For Constipation "I recently had a colonoscopy procedure, and afterwards, I didn't have a bowel movement for four days. I tried taking Miralax, glycerin suppositories, and drinking 100 oz of water a day, but nothing worked! I went to the doctor and was told that my colon was now moving 'sluggishly' and to get some magnesium citrate. I took it yesterday morning at 8 AM with a huge glass of water, followed by Gatorade, and by 12:30 PM I was on the toilet going like a champ! I even cheered because I was that happy! But even extreme happiness has a downside! At 9:30 PM last night, I was still going to the bathroom! Needless to say, with my very sore bottom, I was no longer in a cheering mood. And today I am EXTREMELY gassy and bloated! But not constipated!"

For Constipation "So I've never been backed up in my life until here recently. The other night, after eating, I got this horrible pain in my stomach and had realized some recent bloating. I work in a nursing home and the last thing I want is to become dependent on laxatives, so I tried a natural laxative consisting of bran flakes, applesauce, and prune juice. It produced some bowel movements. However, I was still not comfortable with being blocked, so naturally I think of magnesium citrate. I had heard how well this product worked and figured I'd give it a shot. I drank it around 4:30-5:00 pm, and by 7:30, I was in the restroom. This stuff is amazing and works fast and well. The results will outweigh the burn. Good luck."

For Constipation "Ok, first and foremost, to those of you drinking 2 bottles of this stuff in a 24-hour period... No, just no. That can be dangerous, and the bottle specifically says do not drink more than one bottle in a 24-hour period. Believe it or not, magnesium toxicity can hurt or even kill people. Other than that, this stuff works! If you aren't going to the bathroom after drinking a bottle of this, then you should head straight to your doctor's office as something is amiss. One bottle of this and expect to be incapacitated for quite a few hours. Do not make plans outside of sitting on your toilet after drinking this. It takes longer to hit some people, but once it does, watch out! Be sure to drink plenty of liquids when using MC, as well, Gatorade and water together is a good choice."

For Constipation "I had surgery, and from the anesthesia and pain medicine, I became very constipated. I literally had no bowel movement whatsoever for 5 days. I started having some stomach pains, I am assuming from gas or just being constipated. I told my doctor what was going on and asked what I could take, and he recommended Magnesium Citrate. I bought a bottle and drank the full 10 oz. About 30 minutes after drinking this, it hit me... I was able to go, and all of the pain and bloating was gone. I was completely relieved. Unfortunately, this story does not end here. Every 15 to 30 minutes for the next 6 hours, I was back in the bathroom, and it was nothing but water... uncontrollable diarrhea. I was literally at a point where I was praying that it would stop."

For Constipation "I have diverticulitis, so I’m irregular often, but after a few days of not going at all, the gas was really putting pressure on my insides. My sister told me about MC, she’s a nurse at a nursing home, so she deals with this regularly. I tried it at 9 p.m., and by 1 a.m. it was working. A lot of watery stool, but nothing uncomfortable. I don’t care how it’s coming out, so long as it’s coming out. I recommend it."

For Constipation "If you get desperate enough to use this product, it’s worth it. You’re already having a bad time. Bloating, uncomfortable, abdominal pain, but you haven’t seen anything until you chug a bottle of this stuff. I took the full bottle, and 4 hours later, I was scared it wasn’t working. Then I drank warm water instead of the regular 10-minute interval glasses of iced water. Maybe it was all the water gathering in my belly to gang up on the poo... maybe it was the temperature. I’m currently 15 hours into this adventure, and my intestines are angry. Wet wipes and diaper rash ointment recommended, as well as chapstick because it will dehydrate your lips even when throwing fluids down with it. But it works. Believe it or not, I’m less miserable."

For Constipation "I feel the need to share this, only because I have never experienced being so constipated before. I currently have kidney stones, which they sent me home with Norco for pain. I knew constipation was a side effect, but I wasn’t expecting to have a plug and me straining for over an hour. Not only was I in dire pain because the hard plug of stool was literally trying to come out of my body. I waddled out of the bathroom and cried to my boyfriend. His mom recommended I try magnesium citrate. Definitely get the lemon flavor!! I drank the whole bottle around 10 PM because I was desperate, hours passed and it wasn’t working. I kept reading reviews and everyone said to hydrate! So I frantically started drinking water... still nothing. Until finally, someone had written to drink warm water... I drank two glasses. And around 3 AM, I was able to pass the plug. It was painful, but it worked!"

For Constipation "I took this at about 10 a.m. with a bunch of water and other liquids to mix it up, but it didn't really start working 'til about 1 p.m. At first, it seems a chunk of the stool comes out, and I expected only a little bit of diarrhea afterward. Boy, was I wrong. Seven hours later, and I've still had the urge. I'm now pretty exhausted after constantly drinking water and going to the bathroom. My intestines are really cramping up on me, so I have major pain there. I wouldn't mind the water fountain my butt has become if it weren't for how sore and cramped I feel afterward. I'm going to risk going to sleep now because I'm tired, but I can't help but hear all the noises my stomach is making (it's kind of scaring me). At least I've become less constipated, though."

For Constipation "This is the second time I took magnesium citrate for my constipation in the past 4 or so months. I had a fecal impaction both times and just couldn’t get it to pass. I took the smallest dosage (6.5, maybe even closer to 6) at 5 AM after not being able to go for a few days. I have IBS, so I normally go 2-5 times a day, usually, so not being able to go for a few days was making me very worried and uncomfortable. I tried Miralax, but it didn’t do much for the impaction. Anyway, it’s now 9 AM, and it worked enough for me to be able to pass the impaction. Sweet relief! I do not have major cramping or anything right now, although I do anticipate needing to go to the bathroom frequently as the magnesium citrate goes through my system. I wanted it so I could pass the fecal impaction, and this did the trick. Pro tip: be kind to your body and do not take the full amount! I try to take as little as possible just to get things moving, and it did the trick."

For Constipation "I had been constipated for about a week and nothing was working. Dulcolax, enemas, prune juice... You name it, I tried it. Finally, broke down and did some research and sent my husband to get a bottle of this stuff. He bought lemon or something and it tasted like hell. I chugged some Pedialyte afterward to get the taste out of my mouth. Within an hour, I was in the bathroom and it was working - violently. Every 15 to 30 minutes I would go again. This has been going on for about three hours and I'm exhausted. If you can, do it during the day and make sure you have baby wipes, very soft toilet paper, and even witch hazel pads on hand. My only problem is I don't know how long this is going to go on for, although the trips to the bathroom are spreading out."

Citrate of Magnesia (magnesium citrate) for Constipation "I drank magnesia citrate, it was a half bottle, and I chased it with warm water, and it worked. Within thirty minutes, I was on the toilet. It is very good. My stomach is rumbling as I type, lol. If you try the product, make sure you drink it with warm water."

For Constipation "Awesome. Could feel like I had to go but kept pushing and ended up giving myself hemorrhoid. Tried stool softener and Miralax and fiber, then remembered watching Dr. Oz show and stated that he uses magnesium citrate for his constipation so went out and bought it. Worked in 2 hrs."

For Constipation "I struggle with constipation, and nothing else seems to help. I tried Colace, Miralax, the 48-hour Hollywood diet, nothing helped. Read the reviews on this and figured it might help. I was wrong. It definitely helped. Don't make plans to go anywhere after taking. I ignored the warning, went out to dinner with friends, and literally sh*t my pants on the walk home. Yeah. It works."

For Constipation "I dumped the bottle (cherry) in a tall glass with ice, squeezed an orange in with it, and added 1/4 pure cranberry juice. I stirred it and drank 2 huge drinks, then had water and repeated 3x until it was gone. It was very sour like a Warhead candy. Within 30 minutes, it was working and 3 hours later, I was completely cleaned out."

For Constipation "I took this because I've been constipated for about a week; I tried natural remedies, like coffee and peppermint oil, which made me feel like I had to poop, but nothing happened. I was on the verge of going to the doctor, as my stomach hurt every time I ate, and I looked pregnant. After reading these reviews, I bought the cherry version from CVS, which actually tasted really good-like a Jolly Rancher. I drank about 9 oz, couldn't finish the last bit because it made me nauseous. I drank probably 16 oz of water and waited. It took 2 hrs and more water before I had a big, solid poop. I drank more water and had some coffee, which began the liquid butt lava. I'm still sitting on the toilet, so far so good-will update my review if necessary."

For Constipation "I have constipation all the time due to pain medication that I take daily. Every couple of weeks I wake up on Sunday morning and down a bottle of magnesium citrate. Within an hour, everything in my bowels is liquefied and the problem is solved. I don't suggest leaving home for a few hours after doing this though, because you and your toilet will become very friendly."

For Constipation "I was plugged for more than a week. I tried Miralax, docusate, Milk of Magnesia, and fiber. Got nothing. The cause was opiates unbeknownst to me. The doctor said to try magnesium citrate. Forty-five minutes later, all systems go. I've been in the 'oval office' off and on for a few hours, but I'll take it. I did not feel good before."

For Constipation "I have chronic constipation, and this is the only laxative that works for me. I had to go to the ER for the second time in a few years due to not having a good BM in a few weeks. They recommended the magnesium citrate again for the second time around, and if you are chronically constipated, IT WILL TAKE A WHILE, so make sure you have the next couple of days off. This last time, I took a whole bottle (10 fl oz) around 8 PM at night. I woke up the next morning feeling nothing, so I took another half bottle (5 fl oz), and then within the next 2 or 3 hours, the rumbling and flooding started and lasted the whole day. Make sure you have baby wipes so your bottom doesn’t go too raw, and apply ointment before it all starts and during the event as well. It is 1 AM Saturday morning, and I am having bloating, nausea, and a terrible stomach ache. I knew I was going to have diarrhea, but I didn’t know how gross I would feel the next night, and I’m back to going to the bathroom. VERY effective for people like me, but nasty side effects."

For Constipation "I have had chronic constipation since I was a kid that only got worse with age. I'm 29 now, I poop about once a week on my 'regular' days...and after a glass of Metamucil, 4 Fleet suppositories, 2 glasses of prune juice, and enough grapes to make you sick. We called up a nurse friend who said, 'This WILL work.' My biggest issue seems to be that I suffer from dehydration all the time... so drinking one glass of water before taking this wasn't enough to start my engines... so after some nausea, hours of anxiety, and 3 glasses of water, 7 1/2 hours later I was able to get some movement. There were 2 poops with the usual grating struggle, then by the 3rd round, it was like I poured a pint out of my butt. In one hour, I pooped/poured 10 times!"

For Constipation "Started a new medication about a month ago, and it has caused constipation as a side effect. For 8 days in a row, I was unable to go #2, and I was starting to feel pretty awful. Found magnesium citrate on Amazon with really high reviews. Was nervous to use it because people said it could be really harsh on the tummy. I drank 1/2 bottle (cherry flavor) and was cramping in my abdomen 22 minutes later (I didn't realize it needed to be taken on an empty stomach, oops). 8 minutes or so later, the cramps lifted a little, and I had my first BM. It wasn't easy, just loose. Super glad I didn't drink the entire thing because it worked right away for me. Phew. Will use again in case of emergency."
