Vyepti is a monoclonal antibody specifically designed to bind to and block the action of CGRP, a protein involved in migraines.
During a migraine, CGRP levels rise, contributing to the pain, inflammation, and widening of blood vessels in the head.
Vyepti is designed to help reduce monthly migraine days.
This medication is given as an intravenous infusion every 3 months.
Each infusion takes approximately 30 minutes.
The most common side effects are stuffy nose, scratchy throat, and allergic reactions.
Most allergic reactions are not serious and occur during the infusion.
However, life-threatening allergic reactions have occurred.
