Video transcript

Omvoh injection is used to treat adults with moderate-to-severe ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease. It was first approved by the FDA in 2023.

Omvoh works by targeting and blocking a signaling protein called interleukin-23, also called IL-23, which plays a role in gut inflammation. By blocking this protein, Omvoh reduces inflammation and improves symptoms of ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease

Omvoh is given as an intravenous infusion for the first few doses, then as a subcutaneous injection once every 4 weeks.

Common Omvoh side effects include upper respiratory tract infections, injection site reactions, joint pain, headache, rash, and herpes viral infections. It can lower your ability to fight off infections, putting you at risk for infections. It may also cause liver problems in some people.
