Vitamin E-300

This treatment applies to the following species:

Injectable Tocopherol (300 I.U. Vitamins E per mL)

Active Ingredient(s): Each mL contains: 300 International Units of vitamin E (as d-alpha-tocopherol, a natural source of vitamin E), compounded with 20% ethyl alcohol and 1% benzyl alcohol (preservative) in an emulsifiable base.

Vitamin E-300 Indications

VITAMIN E-300 is for use as a supplemental source of natural vitamin E in swine, cattle, and sheep.

Dosage and Administration

Intramuscular or subcutaneous administration only. May be repeated. If dose is greater than 5 mL, equally divide the dose and inject at two different sites.

Precaution(s): Store between 2° and 30°C (36° and 86°F) in a dark place. Store partially used vials under refrigeration (36°-55°F).

Caution(s): Anaphylactoid or allergic reactions, which have resulted in deaths, abortions, and/or premature births, have been reported in individual animals as well as entire herds. Should such reactions or hypersensitivity occur, treat immediately with injection of epinephrine and/or antihistamines.

Do not exceed recommended dosage. Do not add water to the solution.

Restricted drug (California) - use only as directed.

Warning(s): Not for human use.

Keep out of the reach of children.

Discussion: VITAMIN E-300 (natural-source of vitamin E is a clear, sterile, non-aqueous solution of d-alpha-tocopherol.

Natural tocopherols in feedstuffs can be destroyed through processing, ensiling, and storage. A reduced vitamin E intake can result in marginal deficiencies that may not be visible. Intramuscular or subcutaneous injections offer an efficient and rapid method to increase vitamin E status of animals.
