Recommended use: For use as a supplement in potassium deficient states in cats and dogs.
Each tablet contains a minimum of:
Potassium gluconate |
2 mEq (468 mg) |
in a palatable base
Dosage: The suggested dose of potassium gluconate for adult cats and dogs is 1 tablet per 10 lb (4.5 kg) body weight twice daily. Dosage may be adjusted by licensed veterinarian to satisfy patient’s need.
Precautions
Use with caution in the presence of cardiac disease, particularly in digitalized patients or in the presence of renal disease.Warning
May cause hyperkalemia. Do not exceed the recommended dose. Frequent patient monitoring is advised. Adverse effects include gastrointestinal irritation, muscular weakness, twitching, irritability, and cardiac conduction disturbances. Potassium salts are contraindicated in animals with hyperkalemia, severe renal impairment or failure, severe hemolytic reactions, Addison’s disease, decreased gastrointestinal motility, and acute dehydration.Store in a dry place at a temperature between 15° and 30°C (59° - 86°F). Keep container tightly closed.
