Description

NeoMed 325 is a water soluble powder containing Neomycin Sulfate USP for the treatment of susceptible bacterial infections in chickens and turkeys, swine, calves, sheep and horses.

Active Ingredient

Each 100 g contains 81.25 g of Neomycin Sulfate USP (eq. to 56.875 g neomycin base).

NeoMed 325 Indications

Chickens and Turkeys: As an aid in the treatment of Bluecomb or transmissible enteritis in turkeys, bacterial enteritis, enteritis associated with chronic respiratory disease (CRD) and other neomycin-susceptible infections in chickens and turkeys.

Swine, Calves, Sheep and Horses: As an aid in the treatment of scours (bacterial enteritis).

Dosage and Administration

To reduce the development of antimicrobial resistance and maintain effectiveness, use this antibiotic prudently and for the shortest duration required to achieve the desired clinical outcome.

Chickens and Turkeys:

Flock Treatment: As soon as symptoms are observed, give NeoMed 325 for 3 to 5 days. If no improvement is noted after 5 days of treatment, the diagnosis should be redetermined. Add NeoMed 325 to the drinking water as follows:

Chickens:

Day-old to 2 weeks: 20 g of powder per 225 L of water or 100 g per 1125 L of water.

2 weeks to adulthood: 40 g of powder per 225 L of water or 200 g per 1125 L of water.

Turkeys:

Bacterial enteritis and enteritis associated with CRD: 40 g of powder per 225 L of water or 200 g per 1125 L of water.

Bluecomb or transmissible enteritis: 100 g per 335 L of water for 8 days of medication as per the following schedule:

a) 3 days, medication

b) 2 days, no medication

c) 3 days, medication

d) 2 days, no medication

e) 2 days, medication

Automatic Proportioner: Set the apparatus to distribute 30 mL per 4 L of water (1 oz/gallon U.S.). Prepare the stock solution by dissolving:

Chickens:

Day-old to 2 weeks: 100 g in 8.5 L of drinking water.

2 weeks to adulthood: 200 g in 8.5 L of drinking water.

Turkeys:

Bacterial enteritis and enteritis associated with CRD: 200 g in 8.5 L of drinking water.

Bluecomb or transmissible enteritis: 100 g in 2.5 L of drinking water.

Swine, Calves, Sheep and Horses:

Individual Treatment: Add to the drinking water consumed daily, 1 g of powder per 50 kg of body weight.

Herd Treatment: Add to the drinking water consumed daily, 100 g per 5000 kg of body weight.

CAUTIONS: When treating turkeys for Bluecomb or transmissible enteritis, do not administer medicated drinking water for more than 3 days in a row at the indicated dosage rate. During the treatment period, medicated water should be the only source of drinking water. Prepare fresh solutions daily. 1 tablespoon (15 mL) equals 8 g.

Warnings

Treated animals must not be slaughtered for use in food for at least: Calves - 30 days; Laying Hens, Turkeys, Pigs, Sheep - 14 days; Broilers - 7 days after the latest treatment with this drug. This drug must not be administered to horses that are to be slaughtered for use in food. When handling the product, avoid inhalation, oral exposure and direct contact with skin or eyes. Keep out of reach of children.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place below 23°C. Keep from freezing.
