Note: small, frequent (3x per day) meals are recommended when feeding very young, especially small calves to maximize nutrient intake considering limited stomach capacity. Extending the weaning period will allow the calf to transition fully onto solid feed, and experience less setbacks at weaning. Two week weaning period is highly recommended, along with multiple meals (3+) in a day throughout the milk-fed period.
When coupled with a complete calf care protocol, the following numbers are needed for growth:
● To grow 800g/day, a minimum of 4500 calories and 200g protein is required
● To grow 1200g/day, a minimum of 6000 calories and 290g protein is required
Feeding 9 litres (1350 grams) per day of Achieve will provide 6400 calories and 320 grams of protein.
