Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction while taking allantoin / camphor / phenol topical: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Stop using this medicine and call your doctor at once if you have severe burning, stinging, redness, or other irritation after applying the ointment.

Common side effects may include:

  • mild tingling or cool feeling after applying the medicine; or

  • a white residue on your lips.
