GENERALLY AVOID: Coadministration with foslevodopa may potentiate the cardiovascular effects of sympathomimetic agents (e.g., epinephrine, norepinephrine, isoproterenol, amphetamine). Additive increases in blood pressure and heart rate may occur due to enhanced sympathetic activity. However, data evaluating the interaction are not available.

MANAGEMENT: The use of levodopa with sympathomimetic agents should generally be avoided. If concomitant use is required, close monitoring of the cardiovascular system is recommended. Some authorities consider the coadministration of sympathomimetic agents and foslevodopa to be contraindicated (Canada).

Using phendimetrazine with alcohol can increase the risk of cardiovascular side effects such as increased heart rate, chest pain, or blood pressure changes. In addition, you may also be more likely to experience nervous system side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, depression, and difficulty concentrating. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with phendimetrazine. Do not use more than the recommended dose of phendimetrazine, and avoid activities requiring mental alertness such as driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medication affects you. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medication without first talking to your doctor.

Alcohol can increase the nervous system side effects of foslevodopa such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience impairment in thinking and judgment. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with foslevodopa. You may experience reduced effectiveness of foslevodopa in the presence of foods or enteral (tube) feedings with a high protein content. This may make the symptoms of Parkinson's disease worse. Talk with your doctor or nutrition counselor about the best foods to eat while you are taking this medication. Contact your doctor if your condition changes.
