Talk to your doctor before using bosutinib together with esomeprazole. By decreasing acid levels in the stomach for a prolonged period, esomeprazole can interfere with the absorption of bosutinib and reduce its effectiveness. Combining these medications is generally not recommended. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact, or interact to a lesser extent. For indigestion or heartburn, you may also consider using an antacid up to two hours before or two hours after the dose of bosutinib. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Food may interfere with the absorption of esomeprazole. Esomeprazole should be taken at least one hour before meals and at the same time every day. When esomeprazole is given to patients receiving continuous enteral nutrition (tube feedings), the tube feeding should be interrupted for at least 1 hour before and 1 hour after the dose of esomeprazole. This will make it easier for your body to absorb the medication. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Bosutinib should be taken with a meal to help with its absorption. Do not consume grapefruit, grapefruit juice, or any supplements that contain grapefruit extract during treatment with bosutinib unless directed otherwise by your doctor. Grapefruit juice can significantly increase the blood levels of bosutinib. You may be more likely to experience side effects such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, liver damage, and impaired bone marrow function resulting in low numbers of different types of blood cells, which can increase the risk of anemia, bleeding problems, and infections. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
