Treatment with pegloticase may cause coagulation factor IX to be less effective in some cases. Many patients treated with pegloticase develop antibodies against one of the components that is also found in coagulation factor IX. High levels of the antibodies have been associated with reduced effectiveness of pegloticase, so it is possible that they may also interfere with the effects of coagulation factor IX. Contact your doctor if your symptoms worsen during treatment with these medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
