Treatment with ibritumomab tiuxetan and eltrombopag at the same time or too close together may interfere with the effects of eltrombopag. Unless otherwise directed by your doctor, it is generally recommended that growth factors like eltrombopag not be given within 3 weeks before or 2 weeks after treatment with ibritumomab tiuxetan. Food may reduce the absorption and blood levels of eltrombopag. In addition, minerals such as aluminum, calcium, iron, magnesium, and zinc can also interfere with eltrombopag absorption into the bloodstream, which may make the medication less effective in treating your condition. You should take eltrombopag on an empty stomach one hour before or two hours after a meal. Eltrombopag should also be taken at least 2 hours before or 4 hours after products like antacids, mineral supplements, dairy products, and fortified juices.
