Drug Interaction Report
2 potential interactions and/or warnings found for the following 2 drugs:
- Danziten (nilotinib)
- seladelpar
Interactions between your drugs
nilotinib seladelpar
Applies to: Danziten (nilotinib), seladelpar
Nilotinib may increase the blood levels and side effects of seladelpar, such as changes in your liver tests, headache, stomach pain or swelling (distension), nausea, and/or dizziness. However, this might only be significant in patients with certain CYP450 2C9 genotypes, so you may require a test to determine your genotype. Your healthcare provider may already be aware of the risks, but has determined that this is the best course of treatment for you and is monitoring you closely for any potential complications. Speak with your healthcare provider right away if you develop any of the following signs or symptoms during treatment with seladelpar as they may indicate worsening liver problems: swelling of your stomach-area (abdomen) from a build-up of fluid, yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes, pain on the right side of your stomach, coughing or vomiting up blood or blood clots, red or black stools that look like tar, and/or mental changes like confusion, slurred speech, or changes in personality. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
nilotinib food
Applies to: Danziten (nilotinib)
Do not consume grapefruit or grapefruit juice during treatment with nilotinib unless directed otherwise by your doctor. Grapefruit juice can increase the blood levels of nilotinib to dangerous levels, increasing the risk of an irregular heart rhythm that may be serious. You should seek immediate medical attention if you develop sudden dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, shortness of breath, or heart palpitations during treatment with nilotinib. Food may also increase the blood levels of nilotinib. Therefore, you should take nilotinib on an empty stomach, meaning no food should be eaten for at least two hours before or one hour after taking nilotinib. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
