Alinia (brand of nitazoxanide) oral suspension contains 1.48 grams of sucrose per 5 mL. The sugar content should be considered when this product is used in patients with diabetes.

Moderate Potential Hazard, Low plausibility

Applies to: Renal Dysfunction, Liver Disease, Biliary Obstruction

The pharmacokinetics of nitazoxanide in patients with compromised renal and/or hepatic function have not been studied. Therapy with nitazoxanide should be administered cautiously in patients with hepatic and biliary disease and/or renal disease.
