Major Potential Hazard, Moderate plausibility.
The use of ferric citrate is contraindicated in patients with iron overload syndromes (e.g., hemochromatosis). It is recommended to assess iron parameters before therapy with ferric citrate and monitor iron parameters while on treatment.
