Vilazodone for Major Depressive Disorder "I have taken many SSRIs over the years. Recently, I told my doctor that I had taken myself off of Prozac because I was sick of gaining weight unless I starved myself. He put me on Viibryd, and let me say, the weight gain is gone! Unfortunately, that’s because I feel queasy all of the time. Food doesn’t interest me at all, and if I eat a cheese sandwich, I feel bloated for hours. As to mood, I still have suicidal thoughts, but they are less obsessive; more like planning a distant vacation. Taking it in the a.m. makes sleep easier, and I do feel more energetic and positive. It is quite expensive, however, yet after reading these reviews, I’m fearful of possibly horrific withdrawal symptoms."

Vilazodone for Depression "I was depressed for seven months in bed, and I was prescribed Viibryd 40 mg. After 1 week, I started to feel fantastic for at least 3 weeks, and now I'm feeling like I'm on the roller coaster again (slightly down). And to top it off, I've gained at least 10 lbs. Made me very outspoken about almost everything (something I did like after any situation). I'm going to try it for a couple more weeks, and I hope things change. Also, I'm not a person that has to have sweets, but on this medicine, I began to eat sweets instead of wanting my regular meals. Still hopeful."

Vilazodone for Major Depressive Disorder "I'm 16 years old and I have been on several anxiety/depression medications including Prozac, Zoloft, Lexapro, Propranolol, Klonopin, etc. I take 40 mg once a day and this is the first medication that actually works for me. All of the other ones made me suicidal or more depressed. I can definitely tell when I miss a dose of Viibryd, I get sad and very emotional. I've been taking Viibryd for about 8 months. I have gained 15 pounds, but I don't know if that is because of the medicine or not. It really bothers me, though. I have less of an appetite and sleep way too much, sometimes 4 naps a day. I fall asleep during school. I'm super emotional, I easily get annoyed, sad, and angry. I cry a lot. I have no idea if any of these are side effects of the meds or not."

Vilazodone "I started Viibryd in 2012 for anxiety and panic disorder, and my experience with it has been great. Little to no sexual side effects, no weight gain, and the initial adjustment period gave me VERY few side effects — maybe a couple of stomach aches, but that's it. Alongside therapy, it truly changed my life around — no overthinking, no paranoia, happier moods. My cons: the moderate to moderately severe hand tremor that it has given me. It’s not constant, but almost. When I’m stressed or anxious or doing any fine motor work, I barely have any control over my hands. However, I don’t think this is a very common side effect, and I wouldn’t discourage someone from trying it for that reason. Something I hate is how quickly it wears off. ALWAYS keep some on you in case you forget your dose. I have been on the floor shaking and near vomiting because of how awful it makes me feel if I wait more than 24 hours to take it. Speaking of — after a decade, it stopped working. Back to the drawing board, sadly."

For Anxiety "Drug Viibryd helped me with anxiety, but made me gain 15 lbs and also gave me zero interest in sex, no sensation, and difficulty with orgasm. I’m getting off this drug ASAP. I'm 30, this is not normal."

Vilazodone for Depression "At the age of 24, I started taking Lexapro, which did absolutely nothing. Then I started taking Zoloft, which did the trick, except I gained weight and had absolutely no sex drive, which was causing serious issues in my marriage. Just a couple of months ago, I started taking Viibryd to help with the sexual side effects. It worked, I felt fine. Until now, I have been on Viibryd for about two months and take 40 mg a day. I feel like it just stopped working. The past two weeks have been torture. I think I will go back to the Zoloft and deal with the side effects. Not to mention, my insurance doesn't cover Viibryd, so it costs about $158 a month out of pocket."

For Anxiety "I tried Viibryd for panic attacks and anxiety and didn’t work :( I was on Zoloft before, and it helped me so much, however, I gained 10 pounds, so I asked my doctor to switch me to something else. I took 10 mg per day for 2.5 months, and I didn’t feel anything."

Vilazodone for Depression "I went on this medication, and at first, was very excited about it. By month 3, I had gained 10 lbs and lost my libido. I also fainted once and had to be prescribed a sleeping pill. Needless to say, it is not working for me."

For Anxiety "+100 mg Bupropion. I wake up too early. Lately, I am becoming irritable, not rested. Before, on Paxil + Bupropion, I slept well, between 7.5-9 hrs per night. The issue with Paxil: less energy, increased appetite, weight gain, inability to handle much cardio! Seems like nothing is 'perfect.' Paxil was GREAT as an anti-anxiety/anti-depressant and for sleep. Read that Bupropion + Vilaz. maybe a culprit?"

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I am only taking 10 mg of trade name Viibryd. My side effects are that I have started eating compulsively, a major increase in washing my hands, I have no sex drive, weight gain, nausea. Likely not the best drug for me."

For Depression "The vilazodone was prescribed during a psychiatric stay for suicidal ideation. Constant stomach distress followed by gas and diarrhea post-eating anything. Shaky, nausea, profuse sweating, joint pain, extreme dizziness, and extremity swelling. Weight gain of 6 pounds in 12 days of taking this med. Dry mouth and generalized feelings of being very sick from the first day of taking this medication. Called my doctor about the side effects and ordered me off of it ASAP. Brain-wise, I felt scared, numb, and family complained my affect was flat. I did want to be around people and socialize, but diarrhea made it very difficult. Do not drink on this med as extreme dizziness occurs. I do not recommend this med to anyone."

Vilazodone for Depression "I was taking Lexapro and Wellbutrin for a long time. Then switched to Viibryd in 2012. It helps with my decreased sex drive, and it doesn't cause weight gain either. It actually helps with my libido."
