"I have been on desiccated Thyroid since I was diagnosed in 1999, recommended by my naturopath as superior to synthetic. My problem has been that most doctors dose based on TSH which doesn't necessarily equate to thyroid function. I was losing energy in the evening, falling asleep after meals, and having a hard time losing some weight (not normal for me). I found a practitioner to monitor dosing to my symptoms, and I am much better. I take 60mg in the morning and another 60mg in the afternoon, and I have lots of energy and sleep when I want to. I'm still taking less than many who regularly take thyroid meds, but I feel great."

"I have been on Armour for 4 days and I have already noticed a difference. I could actually take off my wedding ring. I sleep really well for about 7 hours. Not waking up constantly. My swelling has gone down significantly. My joints do not ache. Not getting as winded. I am taking 60mg. I have noticed that I am really tired at night. I like the suggestion of taking it at night as well. I'll have to check with my doctor and get his opinion."

"For the last 6 years I have been diagnosed with hypothyroid 5.28. I was taking levothyroxine. The first time taking it, I felt like my insides where burning and one night I was in the bathroom and passed out not even know I did until I woke up on the floor. I went to the ER and stopped taking it. Then 4 years later another Dr. put me back on levothyroxine but a lower dose and after a week I felt like I was gaging and couldn't breath and my levels where 6.50. I went to an Urgent care and the Dr. put me on 30mg of Armour and my levels where 5.20. I was put on 90mg Armour and my levels are 2.12 after 1 month. I have emotions now, as before I was numb. My sex drive, well WooHoo. Energy level comes and goes. No weight loss yet."

"I have been on Armour Thyroid for a number of years. Am having a hard time getting regulated. Having numerous symptoms-sweats, heart palpitations, dizziness, migraines to name a few. Anyone else experience this?"

"I started taking Armour Thyroid about 6 years ago. This medication has allowed me to feel 'normal' again. I have much more energy and have lost weight. I no longer feel weighed down or tired. I have the energy to do things and feel great."

"I've been on thyroid medication 49 years, I spent my first 38 on Synthroid and various t4 formulas, I could not stand the up and down of Synthroid, it never was steady. Every time I went to the Dr. It was adjusted, it could not regulate me and most Dr's. Just played with raising and lowering the mg levels. Finally a person I new told me I should see her Dr. I did, and that was the beginning of a beautiful relationship with Armour Thyroid. I've never felt better, my bad symptoms went away, and I feel almost human. It holds me steady for longer periods. sometimes the patient knows best, regardless of what the blood tests say. Armour contains unknown ingredients that can't be isolated into a synthetic pill form, Armour is natural, and best."

"Diagnosed with hypothyroidism over ten years ago with body aches, insomnia, brain fog, weight gain, etc. On Armour all my symptoms went away except for weight gain despite heavy exercise and dieting. I keep up my regimen but I'm desperate to lose the weight. I don't understand why the Armour has helped everything but the weight gain."

"Over 13 years, I was on different synthetic thyroid medicines. About 5 years ago, I started having problems with diarrhea, constipation, and fatigue. Then two years ago, horrible aches and pains, very low temperature. I felt I was dying. I pointed out to my doctor abnormal T3s and T4s, which he never noticed. After taking every diagnostic test and even CT scans, I was finally prescribed Armour Thyroid. I have my life back again. Unbelievable."

"Naturopath put me on AT August 2014. My TSH was 4.0 but she said I would feel better if we could get it under 2.0. I gained 32 pounds before Christmas. Thought it was stress b/c I had gone back to work full-time in August, after our youngest started college. I went into menopause, had a period every other month for 4 months, and cycle stopped Feb 2015. Also attributed the weight gain to this. I also got insomnia, night sweats, and severe brain fog, also attributed to the menopause. (age 46) I began having acid reflux/heartburn, trying PPI's and eating TUMS. My AT scrip ran out over Xmas 2016, so I took 1 every other day to get by and instantly lost 5 lbs. Heartburn and PM sweats stopped. My period came back! Still losing wt, and fog is gon"

"Started on Armour decades ago, stayed with it then could not get it and had to take Synthroid. My pharmacist informed me last year Armour was back on the market and switched to it, 1 grain or 60 mg. What an improvement I noticed. Yes, there is a difference"

"I was on naturethyroid for the past oh geez 2016?2017? I am hypothryoid/premenapause I am 37 years old. (I have Lyme's also (on natural stuff for that.) The pharmacist has told me that naturethroid 16.25 mg is on back order/going to be not making it anymore (was on 32.50mg) . So whenever I called them in Nov-Dec 2018? To get a refill they told me it is backordered/discontinued (which stinks because I lost weight ) Now started the armour thyroid (1/18/19) I feel like I gained weight. (I do workout and eat 97% the time healthy.) Today is 1/29/19 just feel fat. Just the jeans that used to be lose are now tight. My hair is already thin so idk about that if it got anymore thinner/falling out . I thought I was noticing/ felt like itchiness on my stomach. Thirsty a lot. So idk if it's to early to tell or not. I'll just need to keep track of symptoms. I'll give it a month and see any difference /side effects. Just wish they would of kept naturethroid."

"I was on Levo meds and I felt like I was over loaded with hormones. I would have outburst of anger and sadness. Gained 10lbs in 6monthes, insomnia etc. These behaviors were abnormal for me. I switched to Armour meds and in one month I lost 3lbs , sleep well and have not had any mood swings."

"Has anyone encountered problems with their eyes after being on Amour Thyroid. It is curious to me that I feel better than I have in a long time, however, things keep happening to my eyes.. ...First a detached retina, cataracts, and now macular problems. Never had eye problems before and my vision stayed the same as when I was 12 years old until last year when I started Amour. Any connection???"

"I had a total thyroidectomy 13 years ago. I was put on Synthroid, or generic versions. I only noticed some paranoia/anxiousness with those over the years. About a year ago, I started feeling like I was taking the meds for nothing, as I was tired, foggy, etc. I went to see a new doctor who prescribed Armour Thyroid & suggested “2 grains” which is two pills. I took one to start & it made me totally anxious. I started taking half and made myself stick with it for a week. I had been having headaches to begin with. I decided to up to one pill & have done that for about 5 days. I am totally foggy, my body aches, I’m extremely anxious. I’m not taking this anymore. I feel disconnected like I’m not even myself. I hope to go back to my previous doctor and start back on Synthroid. I’m happy Armour helps so many people, but unfortunately I am not one of them. ;("

"I was on Synthroid for 5 yrs, when I went from 75mcgs to 125mcg I realized that the allergies were from my medicine. Swelling of the throat, losing my voice, weight gain, etc. Now because of 2 weeks on Armour I am. I am so optimistic and I feel 20 yrs younger."

"Armour reduced water retention and joint/tendon fatigue. However, it made me ravenous and raised my free T3 to uncomfortable levels. I also couldn't exercise. Back to Synthroid in the morning and 15 mg Armour in the afternoon... Better."

"I had started taking Armour over 6 months ago and it did better for me than Synthroid or Nature-Throid. Eyebrows and head hair started to grow in, energy improved, brain fog was lifting, all the rest of the good things we go through to get back to ourselves. About 8 weeks ago the symptoms all started coming back, including some new ones, like the rash on my hands someone else mentioned happened with them. I thought I was doing something wrong. Checked my diet, sleep, etc., all good. I did an internet search and turned up so many websites where people shared their stories of problems with Armour and it all clicked. I switched to WP a week ago and already feel better."

"Armour is sadly not working well for me! Someone needs to investigate. My labs this month (July 2021) have officially tanked. On a fairly decent dose (210mgs) plus I still have my own thyroid. Yet my free T4 is very low at 0.90 my reverse T3 has skyrocketed to 17.5 which has never happened before, at least not since all this time I’ve been on Ndt’s (2014 onward) Free T3 on the lower part of the range/still not optimal at 3.0 & I am very symptomatic; hands dry, bleeding & cracking open, 50lb weight gain in the last year, hair falling like crazy, SO hard to get up in the mornings and function, mood swings/depression/anxiety, hard to go to sleep at a decent time which doesn’t make sense considering I’m exhausted/dozing off all day (unless this med has thrown me into some serious adrenal fatigue.) That time of the month (and the leading up to it) has become a painful, emotional nightmare. Need Nature-Throid, WP, and NP thyroid to be back and consistent the way they were before :-("

"I had been experiencing undiagnosed hypothyroidism symptoms for long time without really knowing what was going on: extreme fatigue, brain fogginess,mood swings, cold. I had been having my thyroid tested for years due to my mother having had a tumor and removal of hers and yet the dr's all kept telling me the levels were fine. I went to an Integrative Dr and he prescribed for me. I've gradually worked up to taking 45 mg a day. 60mg was too much, headache, very painful and hardened breasts, really bad PMS type symptoms and the bloating! My biggest issue is also the puffiness and inability to lose weight! Protein shakes, cardio exercise and strength training and nothing helps. It's so frustrating!"

"I have been on Armour since October '13. I was diagnosed hypothyroid. I have steadily gained weight ever since I started. 20lbs. It has not helped with my cold hands or feet, dry skin, or fatigue. My hair has stopped falling out so bad but that is about the only thing good I can say about this. Also, Im not sure if its related but I've had serious worsening of lower back pain since starting this. "

"I was prescribed Armour Thyroid for four years. The first year was great! Felt better than ever before (currently 42 years of age) but at about the two year mark I noticed a difference. My energy plummeted, almost seemed depressed. So I started taking antidepressants. That did not help. So to answer all my problems my doctor kept increasing my Armour Thyroid dose. I went from 60mg to 160mg in a four year period. I could not sleep, I felt depressed, and had absolutely no energy. I went to a cardiologist, and endocrinologist to help see what the problem could be. They both advised me it was the hormones, testosterone, progesterone, estrogen, and Armour Thyroid medication."

"My blood test said I was on the low side of normal, yet I was having very bad pain in my legs and feet and having chills and loss of hair. I was put on this drug and the pain is gone in my legs and feet. I no longer have chills and my hair is growing back."

"Great news! I just talked with Forest Labs (manufacturer of Armour Thyroid). They updated their manufacturing equipment and changed formulation by increasing dextrose and decreasing cellulose. The dessicated thyroid stayed the same, even though they have trouble getting it. However, the pills now are very difficult to cut in half (they crumble). I do great on Armour and had a severe allergic reaction to synthetic hormones. I don't like the new formulation as much because I cut my pills in half, but it's better than synthetic. Hope this information helps."

"Echoing the many recent negative reviews on Armour. Since mid 2021 the medicine hasn't been the same. I have had depression, anxiety, panic and after feeling better on an older compounded med, decided to try again since I felt my own system had settled down. Big mistake. By the end of the week trial, I was non-functional. In addition, I'd had an elevation of anti-thyroglobulin antibodies which I've never had before in my 26 year history as a thyroid patient. I have reported my issues to the FDA and talked to them at length, but told them many patients need NDT, but we need it to be safe, reliable, and effective. Encourage everyone having problems or an interest to do the same."

"I was on Armour for almost 20 years with no issues. My June 2021 refill triggered incredible anxiety and irritability, increased heart rate, heat intolerance (and I worked in heat and was acclimated to it). Like others posting reviews, I also noted jaw clenching and tooth grinding. In August 2021, I was hospitalized for an arrhythmia the doctors told me was from being overmedicated. Armour changed, either due to supply chain problems or to save money or both. I can no longer trust it, and switched to levothyroxine/cytomel."
