Linagliptin "Tradjenta didn't work for me. The side effects were severe for me. I was unable to walk without help, nausea with stomach pain, back pain was extreme, my blood sugars went up 40+, diarrhea, joint pain was terrible. Finally, got off medicine and improved."

Linagliptin "I have been a type 1 diabetic for almost 30 years. My doctor felt that my blood sugars were going too low, so he wanted me to try Tradjenta (Tradjenta isn't for type 1 diabetes!). Before I started taking this medicine, my BS was 89. I had lunch, my BS shot up to 345 & only went up from there. Once my BS hit 500, I started getting sick. I quit taking Tradjenta & started taking my insulin again & cannot get my BS back under control, and I can't contact my doctor because he took a week's vacation, but he will hear about this when he gets back in the office. My advice is DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU ARE TYPE 1!"

Linagliptin "My Dr. switched me to Tradjenta 5 mg about 4 months ago. It hasn't worked at all. My A1C went from 6.7 to 7.5. She has added back my old prescription at a lower dose to be taken with the Tradjenta. While it is better, I think she will have to up the met and do away with the Tradjenta altogether. The stuff doesn't work for me."

Linagliptin "I have been taking Tradjenta for about 6 months. I have had numerous sinus infections, I'm tired, my joints are so painful, and I've gained weight. I did not think anything of it until I decided to figure out what changed, and this all started after taking Tradjenta. I cannot wait to stop this medication. I am switching to Jardiance, I know that also has side effects, but I am willing to try it out. The constant feeling of having a cold with Tradjenta is not worth it anymore."

Linagliptin "I have been on Tradjenta for about a month alongside metformin. Since taking Tradjenta, I have a permanent blocked nose and severe hand pain to the point that I cannot use my hand. I have stopped taking this medicine and hope the pain subsides. Blood sugar levels are still erratic."

Linagliptin "Even though I was eating healthy, I gained weight on Tradjenta. It affected my gut. I’m not sure what it did for blood sugar, but my belly increased in size. I felt like my insides were swelling. I have been better getting off of it and just using diet and exercise to help with blood sugar."

Linagliptin "I have been taking Tradjenta for over 10 years. It is the only medication that has kept my A1C in the mid to low 6's. Had minor side effects in the beginning, headache, fatigue, and muscle ache. After the first couple of months, my system adjusted and all side effects have gone away. As a generic will be available soon, I would highly recommend."

Linagliptin "Experienced low heart rate (dropped from usual 75 to 62) an hour into my 1st Tradjenta 5 mg tablet. Felt sleepy, tired, and breathless. Glucose reading 2 hours post-meal shot up to 15.7 (usual 11 to 12). Heart rate took 8 hours to go back to normal. Never taking Tradjenta again."

Linagliptin "I have only been on it for about 4 days. I noticed I have been feeling dizzy. Not sure what's causing it. I take Tradjenta with Metformin. I am hoping this medicine works but saw something if you're planning on becoming pregnant not to take it. Some days I wonder if insulin would be better."

Linagliptin "My doctor switched me to Tradjenta (Australian spelling) after I had been taking Glimepiride for several years - max dose, but it was becoming less effective. That was three months ago. My previous A1c was 7.4%. Just tested again, and it's 5.7. Bloody good. No side effects at all, I feel great. This is a miracle drug, in my opinion. I must say that I pay $4.70 USD for a one-month supply. I am retired and on a partial government pension mixed with my own funding. The government subsidizes this and all prescriptions heavily. If I wasn't retired, it would cost me $31 USD per month. In the Philippines, it also costs about $30 a month. My American friends - you are being robbed. I grew up in the US and moved down here 40 years ago. I think for many people like myself, this drug is a godsend. The prices Americans are paying for it are nothing less than criminal."

Linagliptin "I have 2 insurance, I usually pay next to nothing for my prescriptions. I get to the counter, even after running both insurance, the total was $312.76 for a 30-day supply. I can't afford that. Even if I qualified for Tradjenta's relief program for a maximum of $150, it would still be $162.76. Way too much for 1 medication. Looking into other options."

Linagliptin "Been on this medication for 2 months, but had to stop it as had severe muscle pain and abdominal pains. Pain on the right side under rib area and back pain. Horrendous. Same side effects as the Trulicity injection."

Linagliptin "I don't know about everybody else, but Tradjenta has been a miracle for my diabetes. I always tried to lower my blood sugar levels through diet and exercise for so long. I did OK here and there, but mostly about 240 or so. I am very athletic and love sports and also have a torn meniscus because I try to go natural in everything. But since retiring, I had to see a doctor through Medicare. The first couple of days, my sugar went down to 90-110. I can eat more tasty foods and actually cross my leg, as that pain is also gone. I know one thing, I've only been on Tradjenta for a couple of months, but I am going to love going for my next appointment as I have nothing but good levels and no stress anymore. Maybe people need to eat a square meal and exercise more for it to take effect. What did I tell my wife? This I cannot do without. My insurance pays for all but 10 dollars too. I guess my Lord Jesus Christ is really looking after me, because for me, this is all that works throughout the week."

Linagliptin "Took Tradjenta for one week. Started having nausea, stomach pain, and uncontrollable anxiety. Took myself off immediately, and two weeks later still dealing with symptoms. The medication was expensive, and during the week I took it, upon testing my blood sugars, there was no decrease."

Linagliptin "Started taking Tradjenta a few weeks ago at the doctor's suggestion. Blood sugar shot up significantly, experiencing lower back pain, bloating, sudden weight gain - most of the symptoms others on this board have experienced. Will stop taking it for a few weeks and see what happens. Doctor also suggested a stronger dosage of Metformin - I experienced no side effects taking the current dosage, so I think that's the way to go."

Linagliptin "This was an amazing help for relief from metformin late-onset chronic diarrhea. It immediately stopped the nightmare of bathroom trips and seems to have been good sugar control too. Now, after 7 months of use, I am thinking it might be exacerbating extreme dry eye/ MGD for me, as my physicians have not been able to control the symptoms that are affecting ADLs! I am just beginning to suspect/wonder if this is possible until this week."

"I started on this drug a few months ago. I've had no problems with it. I also take metformin. Since starting it, I have lost two stone. I think it helped curb my appetite, and I've also altered my diet. So not just down to the tablets, but it just shows how we are all different, where I like this drug, others on here have had bad experiences. If you're offered it, try it, is my advice."

Linagliptin "I started taking the Tradjenta 5 mg tablet once a day in mid-December 2022. By May, I asked my healthcare provider to prescribe a different medication due to significant side effects, including weight gain, abdominal tenderness, extreme dry eye, fatigue, and depression."

Linagliptin "5mg/day for 45 days. Was 260, now 116. Pretty much zero appetite. Finally able to lose weight. Was 220 lb, now 207. Was dizzy, dopey and weak, now more able to concentrate, easier to exercise. Still want to eat pizza but stick to fruit, veg, and meat. Resisting carbs is still hard to do but doable. If there are side effects, they are not as bad as being 260 which was really scary."

"I have been diabetic type 2 for 7 years. I take metformin and glipizide, but my sugars were off the scale, so I was put on linagliptin 5 mg. My daily sugars are between 4.5 and 7.4. My HbA1c dropped from 78 to 54 in 3 months - it's really doing its job. I have lost about 12 lb in 5 months, but the only side effect that is crippling me is joint pain. My hips don't belong to me, stiff, painful, and sometimes I find it hard to walk. I hope this is helpful."

"I have not had adverse reactions. I find that it effectively drops my blood sugar significantly and effectively. I also use metformin, but it is the extended release type. Linagliptin is great as I take it first thing in the morning before breakfast. Metformin always needs to be taken with food, which is not always convenient. I know people on regular metformin can become dizzy because their blood sugar went too low without enough food. To anyone on this medicine, especially for the first month, I would measure blood sugar several times throughout the day to see if your blood sugar dips too low."

Linagliptin "I am a nurse and took it for 5 days and had excruciating stomach pain. Hardly passed any urine on the 5th day, then started getting skin infections requiring 2 courses of antibiotics. So, after doing some research, I decided to stop it, of course, my doctor wasn't happy, so said I would just have to look at my diet more."

"I have been taking Trajenta 5 mg for nearly two weeks now. I am feeling very dizzy and always tired. Feels my head very heavy and find it hard to get up in the morning. The worst part is that I feel hungry all the time, and at night it is worst, and I have to get up to eat something and still don't feel full. Am worried I will put on weight."

"After having Type 2 for 15 years, my levels became higher, and just taking Metformin didn't help anymore. I added Tradjenta, 5mg, and have been taking it for over a year now. The first side effect is sinus issues and a constant runny nose. So now I have to take Flonase for it. I also developed anxiety for the first time, but it is occasional. I have fibromyalgia and noticed that my joint pain is worse, but I'm not sure if it's from this drug. My liver enzymes became elevated recently, and I'm not sure if it's from this drug or if my NAFLD is worsening. It has helped to stabilize my blood sugar levels, and I consider it to be a success for that. Many reviews here are listing negative reviews after taking this drug for a short time. Do they not know that you need to give a drug a few months before the body responds completely?"

Linagliptin "I've been on Tradjenta for about 6 weeks, and I can hardly walk. My hips are so sore and achy, I thought I was going to need hip surgery, but after reading the same side effects others are experiencing, I no longer want this medication. I haven't seen my sugar lowered either. I was told it may cause me to lose weight, and I did lose 3 pounds, but the pain is not worth the effort."
