For Asthma, Maintenance "I have been using Advair 250/50 for 17 years. It works for me. I rarely have to use my rescue inhaler. I have noticed a rapid heartbeat from time to time, and I am assuming it is from this. Right now, with my prescription insurance, it is $150.00 for a 90-day supply. I will be on Medicare next year, and I checked the prescription plan my husband is currently on, and it is going to cost me $415.00 for a 90-day supply. Seriously, how do these pharmaceutical companies get away with this? Also, why isn't it in a generic form yet? I really would love to stop taking this."

For Asthma, Maintenance "I was prescribed Advair in combination with Spiriva after a bad asthma-type attack in 2010 (1 of 3, the 1st in 2001; 2nd in 2007). I finally went to a pulmonary specialist in early 2010. The inhalers combined with a series of oral prednisone helped me to recover fully. At the advice of my new doctor, I continued using the Advair and Spiriva daily. In 2013, I developed vertigo and continuous bladder infections, determined that was related to the Spiriva, so I stopped that one. Several times during the 5 years, I have attempted to stop using Advair. I think it is addicting in nature; I am unable to breathe without it! That sucks... especially since I was doing fine without any inhalers prior to continued use of Advair."

For COPD, Maintenance "I first began using Advair after my second two-week stay in the hospital for upper respiratory infection. For much of my youth and all of my young adult life up to this point in 1997, I had constant shortness of breath and periodic times where I was unable to regulate my breathing without a bronchial inhaler 5, 6, or more times a day. The first time I used Advair, I noticed a difference, and within days, I was breathing like I was 12 years old again. I could not believe the difference. It was night and day. I know that other users may not get the same level of relief, but for me, it has been a miracle."

For Asthma, Maintenance "Advair helped me breathe better for the first 2-3 days. Then my chest would start tightening within an hour of when I was to take it. It seemed that my dependence was growing. Between that and the panic attacks, I've discontinued Advair and gone back to Ventolin HFA."

For Asthma, Maintenance "Extremely helpful in reducing my need for a nebulizer in the winter. I seem to have more energy, too. Took it years ago, now have made the switch back from another inhaled steroid that didn't work as well. The asthma-related death scares me. But I'm young and healthy for the most part."

For Asthma, Maintenance "Has helped control my asthma, recently started 500/50 since I had another flare-up. I don't need a rescue inhaler near as often. Do get thrush occasionally and a little sore throat. But it does keep my asthma attacks down a lot."

For Asthma, Maintenance "I had a really bad asthma flare-up recently. Albuterol by itself was not cutting it. Since starting this daily medication, I've found that I don't need the Albuterol as much. It took some time for the complete benefits, but I'm satisfied!"

For COPD, Maintenance "I have both asthma symptoms and COPD, so Advair was given to me for the asthma first. It really helped me breathe better, and it is a great med for long-term control. As my COPD progressed, I was unable to get a good breath to inhale from the Diskus, so my doc changed me to the HFA inhaler form. Advair is great and effective, and I sure know when I have run out how much it helps me breathe."

For COPD, Maintenance "By the third day, I had lost my voice, developed pneumonia, been unable to cough out production from my lungs, scarred my lungs even further. I would expect this product to be removed by the FDA soon. If the condition lasts, I'll be seeking legal counsel."

For Asthma, Maintenance "I was a long-time advocate of this med (250/50) - as it was the only thing that prevented asthma issues from deteriorating into pneumonia. Had to use it only from October to January - and then asthma would subside. Grabbed the med the other day and with the first inhale, lips, mouth, and tongue immediately began to tingle and swell. Raced to the sink and rinsed out with the sprayer, hoping the same thing wasn't going to happen in my throat/lungs."

For COPD, Maintenance "I started taking this medicine for a COVID cough. After one week of taking it, I started having body aches. Another week passed, and I was having chest pressure. It did help with the cough, but then I started having heartburn and was coughing more than when I had COVID. I started to develop gastrointestinal issues. After eating, I would belch, and regurgitation would happen. Heartburn and chest pain were also common. A cough would happen after eating. I went to see a pulmonologist, and she told me that I can just stop taking it and that no withdrawal symptoms would happen. That was a lie. After stopping it, cold turkey, I started feeling like absolute rubbish. I started to have diarrhea, abdominal pain, insomnia, anxiety, depression, feeling dizzy and faint-like. She never told me about adrenal insufficiency that could happen after stopping a corticosteroid. It’s been almost 3 months since I stopped the medication, and I feel like the symptoms are only getting worse."

For Asthma, Maintenance "Advair is the only thing that has gotten my asthma under control. It gave me awful muscle cramps, but my nurse practitioner let me try a muscle relaxant for that (I take a small dose of Tizanidine) and it works wonderfully."

For Asthma, Maintenance "Advair is the best. I've had a horrible chronic cough for several years. No one could figure out why. Finally, someone said asthma and gave me Advair, and the cough is almost totally gone. Blessings to the company that makes it. No side effects either."

For Asthma, Maintenance "I give Advair 8 stars because it does what it's supposed to do. I have only had two asthma attacks since starting Advair almost a year ago. One was running without my inhaler. The second time was smoking. I took off two stars for side effects and use. I hate having to remember to take this twice a day. I usually forget. I also hate when I forget to wash my mouth out with water and get a little bit of thrush in my mouth."

For Asthma, Maintenance "Advair is effective in treating my asthma. Unfortunately, I often feel restless, agitated, and maybe anxious. I'm thinking of getting off of the drug, but am afraid my asthma will get worse. I'll probably try gradually weaning off and have an emergency inhaler nearby. I'm just growing tired of the side effects. I may also look into another drug if my asthma gets worse after quitting Advair."

For Asthma, Maintenance "Advair is the only medication that controlled my asthma. I went from 2-4 hospitalizations per year and frequent outpatient treatments for recurrent bronchitis and flare-ups to 0 for the last 10 years. Advair is truly a lifesaver."

For Asthma, Maintenance "Things that they don't tell you about this poison. The only thing I was told about this stuff was the possible weight gain. They never said that asthma can be cured. They never told me about the extreme mood swings, etc. I can go on and on and on. Do yourself a favor and research all the natural cures for asthma. You will be amazed at what you find out."

For Asthma, Maintenance "I used Advair for 15 years after being diagnosed with adult asthma. 250/50 is what I was prescribed. I went from wheezing, tightness in my chest, etc., to perfectly normal breathing every day, no matter what allergies were doing or whatever activities I was doing. Advair, in my opinion, is the best medication out there. Of course, everyone can have different side effects and react differently to meds."

"I am 22 years old and have never had a problem with asthma until here in the past year. I was very active, ran, and played multiple sports, but that all came to a halt when my asthma symptoms began. My doctor put me on Advair. It has been a blessing. I can now run for miles and not have any problems breathing. I can enjoy life again. The only downfall to this medicine is dry mouth, but rinsing after each dose will reduce the dry mouth significantly."

For Asthma, Maintenance "I used Advair back in 2001 and 2002, and then weaned off and relied on Albuterol up until this year again, until it was too frequent. So then Flovent (hated the side effects); so was approved finally for Advair 250/50 twice a day. RE: Thrush, I am always rinsing/swishing thoroughly after each use with water and gargling! 4-5 times, really not a big deal. Also, use a pH-balanced mouthwash called Smart Mouth Clinical DDS. I never had thrush issues! If/when I have had any vocal rasp, it is temporary and goes away within a short time. Hope this helps someone! I am so active, and while corticosteroids have their flaws, it has given me back my freedom :)"

For Asthma, Maintenance "My doctor switched me to Advair 3 1/2 years ago. My wheezing and coughing have stopped! I have resumed a 'normal' living style with exercise and outdoor activities. This is great considering my outdoor lifestyle was my asthma trigger. I have had none of the side effects listed for this product."

For COPD, Maintenance "The worst inhaler I have ever used. It has caused side effects of a sore throat, bad cough, congestion, sleeping issues, muscle and bone pain, and doesn't work well as an inhaler. Do NOT recommend. My emergency inhaler works better and lasts longer."

For Asthma, Maintenance "I have been using Advair for about 4 or 5 months. It has made a big difference in my life. I am not wheezing anymore or tight-chested. My voice gets hoarse sometimes, not as bad as when I was on other medications."

"I've taken Advair for asthma. I have to say it has been a blessing. You must drink a glass of water when taking your dosage, not juice. Juice will upset your stomach. Plus, the nasty feeling in your mouth will go away, and it will do the job even quicker. So I give Advair 5 stars. Just remember to follow your dosage with water, otherwise, yucky, yucky taste and upset stomach."

For Asthma, Maintenance "I've only been using it for 3 days, and I haven't used or needed my pump once. I usually use the pump at least once a day. It might be too soon to tell, but I haven't had any side effects, and I'm not winded when walking up the steps like prior to using Advair."
