Clinpro 5000 (fluoride) "Our dentist gave this to my 10-year-old daughter, and she began to use it. A week later, she developed a stomachache. We took her to the doctor, tried a bland diet, probiotics...everything we could. After a month of frustration and tears, it struck me that she'd been using this toothpaste. I did some research, and sure enough, she had all the symptoms of fluoride poisoning. We had her stop using it. It's taken some time, but she's recovered."

Clinpro 5000 (fluoride) "I used this toothpaste for 3 months and had terrible side effects. My teeth experienced deep throbbing pain that would wake me up at night. The toothpaste also gave me disequilibrium and I went to the emergency room. The side effects for this toothpaste are not well documented. I stopped 4 days ago and I feel back to normal. I wish I had realized I was being slowly poisoned by my toothpaste sooner. What a nightmare!"

Clinpro 5000 (fluoride) "A few years ago, my dentist and hygienist recommended 3M Clinpro 5000 for gum recession and weakened enamel, and charged $35 for a tube. Their directions: Each night before bed, brush with my regular toothpaste, floss, then brush again using a pea-sized amount of Clinpro, then spit but don’t rinse it from inside the mouth. They both believe that it's working, and I’ve had no ill or adverse effects. I visit my dentist every six months, which is how long it takes to use a tube of Clinpro. At my last appointment, however, Clinpro was not available. So for $35, I was provided Colgate’s PreviDent 5000 instead. Although I have not noticed much difference between the two pastes, I had a big problem with PreviDent’s container. Clinpro’s tube is easy to squeeze and cut open, but PreviDent’s container is rigid and nearly impossible to squeeze or cut. After reading previous reviews, I now realize that, at $35 a pop, my dentist has been ripping me off!"

Perio Med (fluoride) "I was given periogel by my dentist to prevent the return of my gum disease. I was thrilled that there was a product that would help keep it from coming back. I immediately started using the periogel everyday for 15 minutes. The day after I started using it I got very sick and thought I had food poisoning from a salad bar where I had eaten lunch. I continued feeling sick with stomach pain and diarrhea for over a month and I thought that I had lingering problems from food poisoning. I made an appt. with my doctor and decided to go off the gel to see what would happen. The next day I felt much better and 3 days later was completely back to normal. Needless to say I am upset that I was not told about any side effects."

Clinpro 5000 (fluoride) "I have had a perfect check up, for four years in a row, using Clinpro toothpaste. It has saved me alot of money, & improved my gums. I am very satisfied with this product. I would recommend everyone to invest in it. My Dentist is one of the top 500 Dentists in America, located in Fort Smith, Arkansas, who recommended me to start using this great product. I have all the faith in my Dentist. Just brush with Clinpro, floss daily, & have regular check ups, and I believe you will be happy as I am with this toothpaste. It has more fluoride & calcium than any toothpaste over the counter. I encourage everyone to try this toothpaste."

Fluoridex Daily Defense (fluoride) "I was given this (Fluoridex Daily Defense) by my dentist and reluctantly used it starting a couple years ago (early 2017). I was told to use it, spit out the toothpaste, but not rinse. While using this toothpaste, I had some stomach/GI issues occur. I thought it was my diet and I even went to the doctor to investigate, but could not locate any issue. The symptoms showed up gradually, but I would have sharp pains in my lower right abdomen/stomach area, along with bloating. Generally, these would occur in the middle of the night/morning and get better as the day went on, but still persisted. I had a light bulb moment at the beginning of 2019 wondering if this was causing my persistent issues. In 2017 (shortly after I started using it) I had muscle issues/tendonitis/sensitivity in both elbows and numbness in my fingers in the night, along with loss of grip strength. Since ceasing utilizing the toothpaste, my tendonitis and other symptoms are basically non-existent."

Pro-Den Rx (fluoride) "I was instructed to rinse with the mouth rinse for 14 days before bed to help my gums. After about day 9 I started to wake up with swollen lips and a weird feeling in my mouth. It is day 13 and I think I will not be using it the last day my mouth is sore with patches that feel raw and very uncomfortable."

Pro-Den Rx (fluoride) "I have experienced severe dry mouth after using Pro-denRX aqueous gel for teeth brushing. I used it for three weeks before I finally realized that my dry mouth started when I began the use of the toothpaste. I have stopped using Pro-denRX and hope the side effects will eventually disappear. It has only been two days since I stopped use, so it is too early to tell much. My mouth is still severely dry."

PreviDent 5000 Booster (fluoride) "I have used Prevident 5000 for many years. This was first prescribed to me by my periodontist. Unfortunately, I have hereditary perio dental issues (caries & gums). In order to keep my teeth and gums from becoming progressively worse, I was prescribed and have been using this product in place of any/all toothpaste. I must say, I have not gotten a cavity and my gums are in stable condition. To date, great product!"

Clinpro 5000 (fluoride) "I'm a long-term user of Clinpro. Recently, the tubing has become more difficult to use. I can no longer cope with the challenges it presents. I've cancelled out of future orders. They made a big mistake. Goodbye Clinpro."

Pro-Den Rx (fluoride) "The taste is horrible, left my mouth dry and no matter how much water I drank I couldn't get rid of the taste even over 15 hours later. This was a big waste of money because I will not be using it again. I told my dentist he should try the products he sells before telling his patients to use it."

Pro-Den Rx (fluoride) "It may be good medicinally, however, the taste is TERRIBLE and caused "instant dry-mouth" to me. Having to formulate the mixture myself before using is NOT "user friendly". The taste alone turned me off completely!!!"

SF 5000 Plus (fluoride) "I was using Prevident made by Colgate. It tasted great. I think it is spearmint flavor. My teeth felt clean. That one comes in a small squeeze 3.4 oz bottle , a little less than double this SF 5000 Plus which is 1.8 oz. Prevident is 3x the price with my Rx plan so I tried this one. It's very dull. No flavor. I don't feel my mouth feels fresh. I had to mix it with regular toothpaste in the Prevident bottle. The pharmacy can only get me this or the Prevident. I'm getting a refill of this SF 5000 Plus. This time I will squeeze it into the bottle and add a drop or two of peppermint oil. That should help the flavor and give me a fresh taste. If you have to use this one and have the same experience that is has no taste, find a small container or something you can dip your toothbrush in and put a drop or two of some kind of flavoring to freshen it up The company needs to spruce up this stuff. It's bland. I couldn't find how to contact them."

Fluoridex (fluoride) "This prescription strength anti cavity toothpaste may be good at preventing cavities, but opening the cap is nearly impossible. The catch is so strong that it takes a lot of twisting & heavy leverage to get the cap to snap open. We've gone thru 4 tubes now & all of them were the same, so it's not just a temporary manufacturing glitch. It's a poorly designed snap cap."

Fluoridex (fluoride) "I have been using Floridex once a day. It is an OK toothpaste, but seems to leave a film on my teeth which I can taste throughout the day. It also causes my gums to burn slightly. I don’t think I will continue to use."

"This product is just terrific. I can eat ice cream without heating it. It's a great product that I highly recommend. I've tried many of the other prescription options available and this is by far the best. It needs some good marketing to spread the good word about how it can help people."

ACT Fluoride Rinse (fluoride) "I've used ClinPro 5000 for years due to A.I. and extensive crown-work. I've always struggled with bleeding gums a deep pockets. I started using Act nightly and it has worked better for me at improving my gum health: reducing pocket depth, and reducing bleeding."

"I've switched to 3M's new Clinpro 5000 formula, which was highly recommended by my dentist. I've been using the product for several months and thus far I've experienced less sensitity and my teeth just feel better."

"Product seemed okay, but it practically took a pair of pliers to OPEN the blasted top! Called the company and representative mentioned that they were aware of the problem. "We have contacted the manufacturer of those tops to request that they be improved," she stated. Could I please get a replacement tube? "No, there is nothing we can do." Seriously? I have MY own company and I know that there is ALWAYS "something you can do" for the customer. Would never purchase this product again!"

Fluoridex Daily Defense (fluoride) "I have been using Fluoridex prescription toothpaste for about 5 years as recommended by my dentist. It works great as I have not had a cavity in those 5 years. I just started using the daily defence rinse as well and it is also a wonderful product. As long as I can go to the dentist and only need cleanings it is worth my while to keep using it. I've had zero side effects, and have had no problems opening the tube"

"I was prescribed Prevident 5000 for the prevention of dental caries associated with my Sjogren's Syndrome dry mouth. I started using it twice a day on August 11 with no side effects. Beginning on October 26, I lost my sense of taste after applying at night before going to bed. When I woke up 8 hours later, there was no sense of taste at all but came back within a few hours. I asked the pharmacist and my dentist and neither had heard of loss of taste as being a side effect. I will continue with the toothpaste until I am advised otherwise. Hopefully, I will not have any new cavities at my 6 month teeth cleaning in February 2024!"

"I've been using this for 4-5 years. Before that I used the "sensitive" version and prior to that I used probably the original in a tube. I started off using it about once a month, and then lost my insurance and didn't see a dentist for 5 years. Then I started seeing a dentist regularly (> once a year) for 7 years and used the "sensitive" and later the "dry mouth" versions weekly. Then I went through three year where I hardly ever used it, rarely flossed, didn't see a dentist, but did brush. Recently I renewed my good dental hygiene, flossing and using the "dry mouth" version 2-3 times per week. Other than a couple of cracked old fillings, I've had two cavities: first visit to the regular dentist after not going to a dentist for years - had it filled - and the second after my bad hygiene period. I didn't get it filled, saw the dentist a year later an the "cavity" had filled in. I'd say it worked "most excellently.""

Clinpro 5000 (fluoride) "I tried Clinpro 5000 given to me by my dentist. It helped my teeth but caused me to have all kinds of stomach problems. Please try hard not to swallow it as bloating and gas occur immediately."

Prevident 5000 Plus (fluoride) "I am an RN in the over 65 population, and used Prevident 5000 Plus for 3 months. I had to discontinue it due to sensitivity, noted to be a higher risk in my age group. The sensitivity wasn't immediate, but gradual, with increasing tongue and throat soreness and GI upset over time, until it reached a level that could not be ignored. In the 36 hours since discontinuing it, the discomfort has reduced considerably, so it seems to be the culprit. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to tolerate this long enough to judge its effectiveness for prevention."
