For Iron Deficiency Anemia "I have had two iron infusions of 500 mg each, 4 weeks apart. Prior to the first infusion, my ferritin level was at 5. After the second infusion, the ferritin level had improved to 516. 4 months later, my ferritin level is now sitting at 435. This is a fantastic medication, and I am quite pleased with the initial results. I have had no side effects, the fatigue is gone, and I have more energy. I will check my ferritin levels again every 3 months and hope to learn how to stabilize my ferritin levels and prevent iron deficiency anemia from reoccurring. I got a requisition to go through SRx Pharmacy, and my work insurance covered 80%. My out-of-pocket cost was approx. $250 per infusion - well worth the benefits. I am really interested to read patient reviews on changes in their ferritin levels over time, I haven't found much online so far."

For Iron Deficiency Anemia "I’ve had 4 doses of Monoferric since January 2025. Prior to that, Infed or Venofer. Monoferric does a great job raising my low iron levels, which in turn eventually helps with all IDA symptoms. However, this does not happen without significant, painful reactions. The infusion (over 2 hours) is never the problem. The reaction starts about 24 hours after infusion and lasts 1.5 - 2 days. The back pain starts low in the back then starts intense spasms that take over my abdomen. The pain also radiates to the groin in both legs, making it painful to walk. I’ve tried 3 different antihistamines, Pepcid, Tylenol, a muscle relaxer, ibuprofen, and eventually scramble for pain medicine. All of these around the clock may or may not take the edge off just enough to fall asleep for 4-5 hours. I have called the nurse help line, but they offer nothing except going to the ER (especially on the weekend). I haven’t attempted an ER visit yet."

For Iron Deficiency Anemia "Got 1000 mg infusion last week, and it was fast and easy, with no side effects as of yet. I am feeling the brain fog lifting already from iron deficiency. It was more costly than Venofer, but my benefits covered it, so pretty pleased to not have to come in for multiple infusions!"
