For HIV Infection "I have been on Trivenz (Atripla) for a year. The first 6 months, my CD4 went from 190 to 600, and my viral load from 440,000 to 2,000. During the month of August this year, I skipped 12 days without my meds, and in October, my CD4 dropped to 425, and viral load was 2,000. Am praying that this med should not become resistant."

For HIV Infection "I would rate this 10 except that I have morning sickness (no jokes please), and my experience and medical advisers tell me that it's okay to eat close to when I take my pill every day, but the more fat, the more vivid (or disturbing) the dreams. I have heard you are supposed to avoid grapefruit also."

For HIV Infection "I've been on Atripla for 10 months now and have had my CD4 count go from 64 to 310 and viral load from high to undetectable. Side effects at first were pretty wild: hallucinations and insomnia, especially when combined with Ambien, which I've completely stopped now. I take it every night and no longer have any side effects. I look and feel much better and am very thankful for this medicine."

For HIV Infection "I was on Atripla for 10 years, then went to Genvoya for 2 years, then back to Atripla for 2 years! Here to find out Atripla is more toxic than Genvoya, and if I would have known back then, I would have never gone back to Atripla the second time because my urine protein was 100, meaning my kidneys were leaking, and I felt like I was dying from poisoning on the inside, and the taste in my mouth was even more poisoning! Good thing my kidneys are still functioning, and I’m still having problems, but hopefully things will go back to normal now that I’m back on Genvoya today, and I will gladly take leg cramps and a heavy feeling any day over the poison Atripla gave me. It would have resulted in kidney failure and dialysis while waiting for a kidney transplant that might not ever happen! Pick Genvoya, it’s safer on the kidneys, bones, and liver because it has less tenofovir in it compared to all the others!"

For HIV Infection "I was diagnosed with HIV in May 2015. Doctors say I got it a few years ago, my CD4: 180, viral load: 37,000. I started immediately with Atripla. Major side effects from the first days, like very dizzy, couldn't concentrate at all, chest pressure, breathing problems, stomach pain, heart beating (too fast). So I decided to see the doctor and change to something else. I got only 2 days, but I can't take more. So I'm unlucky with this :/"

For HIV Infection "Viral load of 22,624 and CD4 in 263. By December 2015, the viral load was <20, although the CD4 fell to 69 (I was told that possible low was due to a strong stress or a problem), but in February 2016, the CD4 rose to 252, and in April 2018, CD4 to 463. No serious side effects so far despite having more than 3 years with the treatment."

For HIV Infection "Diagnosed in 2006. Began treatment in 2008 while VL was still relatively low and CD4 relatively high. Dizziness, vivid dreams, and depression were among the side effects. I stopped taking Atripla in Dec 2015 because of depression. My mood began to improve. It's now nearly 12 months later, and I've been on no meds at all, and I'm still undetectable with my highest CD4 (898) since starting treatment in 2008. I got to say, I think that's a big vote of confidence for Atripla. Will decide my next course of action with my doctor in a week."

"I've been taking Atripla from my diagnosis in 02/07, and it's not let me down yet. The only side effect that I seem to have is that it makes me a bit drowsy. I found that it's best taken at bedtime. From what I have seen here, I'm one of the lucky ones by being able to take just one pill a day versus a cocktail of pills."

For HIV Infection "My Dr. was brilliant. CD4 200. Platelets 15. Viral load 10,000. Dr. put me on Atripla. One mo. later, “undetectable,” platelets 190, CD4 almost 800. Side effects were horrible: flushing, no appetite, couldn’t sleep. Woke every hour. Slept no more than 5 hrs. a night. Anxiety and depression, no motivation to work or do anything. Other side effects: nausea, dizziness, like vertigo. Side effects 6 to 9 drove me crazy, lasted longer at other times. Told my Dr. and in a few mos., he worked a dosage right for me of one 10 mg tablet Diazepam, 3 times per day as needed: 1 when I take Atripla, another when I wake, another as needed since at times the side effects are still noticeable. Now I’m normal. No side effects. Wake early, to bed early. Great appetite, enjoy working construction. It’s been 20+ yrs., same med regime. Only problem, I moved. Doctors ignorant about HIV, Atripla w/Diazepam denied for side effects. Now side effects returned, it’s hell since I get 1 tablet Diazepam per day."

For HIV Infection "I have been on Atripla since 2007 or 2008. From the start, even being homeless and a drug addict, Atripla quickly brought me up to undetectable. Now at a time my CD4 has never been higher, bringing me as high as 1,963 in 2021. During even a shingles outbreak, I have always tried my best to take as directed, but I slipped a couple of times. Now, post-shingles, I see a drop to 1,600. My carrier has changed me to a generic Atripla. I fear I will die because the brand name has been so effective and forgiving."

For HIV Infection "I've had a very difficult time with it. I suppose it's working well, but the side effects are very severe. I am unable to function, the depression is unbearable, and the nausea and confusion render me useless. Every time I have to take the pill, I break down in tears. I haven't taken it in weeks, I'd prefer dying."

For HIV Infection "I am taking Atripla for almost a year since I discovered I'm HIV positive. I had side effects only in the first 2 weeks when I started, since then, nothing. I am still feeling good, undetectable, and CD4 was 188 and now is 550. I don't know how I will be in the future."
