Benzocaine topical "I had a toothache after a deep filling. I figured it was from a high bite, but Orajel didn't seem to ease it much. The new Orajel toothache mouthwash did take the pain away. I did swish it about 5 times a day, but it did help 60%."

Benzocaine topical "I used Orajel after I needed to have a tooth pulled and had to use it along my entire bottom gum. It numbed the area very quickly, but it went away just as fast. It lasted maybe two minutes. I would not recommend the product to anyone."

Benzocaine topical "I have a bad toothache and have tried almost every mouth numbing medicine on the market. Kanka works the best out of any I've tried, and the kind that comes in the bottle lasts the longest. Though it burns at first and can be sticky and messy, I recommend it for any mouth or tooth pain."

Benzocaine topical "Bought this medicine after reading about it. Tried it on the areas needed, but it took forty-five minutes before it took effect. I've only done this twice today after buying it, but have now noticed a rash on my cheeks and around my mouth. Will not be using anytime soon and will be returning it back to HEB for a complete refund!"

Benzocaine topical "It's the only thing that helps me sleep with my current toothache. With Orajel, the numbness was more intense but wore off much faster. Regarding the other comment I read here, you are not supposed to use it on cold sores. Canker sores and cold sores are not the same thing! Cold sore medicine usually contains an antiviral. Canker sores are inside the mouth. I got them as a kid whenever I drank a lot of orange juice. Cold sores are a variant of the herpes virus, so yeah, numbing it won't help."

"My dentist used benzocaine gel/ointment to numb my gum prior to dental filling. Within half an hour, my tongue, cheek, gum, lip, complete side of face had swollen to painful gigantic proportions. I had to attend the hospital as an emergency arranged by the dentist, to see a maxillofacial consultant who had to prescribe an antihistamine. The swelling took well over a week to gradually subside to normal, but completely ruined my 65th family birthday party a few days after, as I could barely speak and could have no photos taken!!! I now check every medical spray or ointment/cream to ensure I am not using this chemical..."

Benzocaine topical "I have had teeth pulled, roots done, the works. I used it in between dental visits, and it helped the pain for short periods of time. I have had to use it more than 4 times a day due to mouth pain, but it's the only relief in the whole world for a bad tooth. I get my tooth pulled Monday, and it's the weekend before Monday, so I'm stuck with a bad wisdom tooth. The gel makes it easier to do my job at work. I eat and drink with the gel in my mouth, nothing bad happened to me. Just had to reapply once I was done eating or drinking. (Letting you know what everyday people do.) I did get lightheaded at work and almost fell, but I held onto something. But again, I'm using more than I should because it's a tooth that needs to be pulled. (Wisdom tooth.) But like I said, it's good to use for people waiting to get their tooth pulled or worked on. It kills the nerve pain for a minute or two."

"I purchased the topical cream to help with pain from a canker sore in my mouth. I applied the medication myself, putting the tube over the affected area. I didn't see how much came out, so I could've given myself too much. But, immediately, I started dealing with an increase in saliva that became uncomfortable and made it hard to sleep. I tried to rinse my mouth with water multiple times, but it left my throat feeling clogged up with saliva. Even now, after several hours of sleep, the symptoms persist, leaving an uncomfortable feeling in my mouth. I'm just hoping I didn't swallow too much and cause any damage. My recommendation: use very, very small amounts, or not at all."

Benzocaine topical "I bought some Orajel after painkillers didn't seem to be working. It numbed up really quick but went away in 5 minutes. After a day, I was left in more pain, it caused me to sweat, and the only thing left is back to the dentist."

Benzocaine topical "This product was used by my dentist in the office. Immediately, the excessive amount of gel started running down the back of my throat. I was nauseated, vomited later, my throat was numb, I had a profuse increase in saliva, coughing, then wheezing, and began to break out in hives. I found a 25 mg Benadryl, took it, drank several cups of water, and eventually the symptoms improved."

Benzocaine topical "I have several teeth that need to be pulled, and while waiting, this stuff is the most relief that I get on a daily basis. As others have said: It doesn't last a very long time...but if I'm trying to eat or trying to go to sleep, it does allow me to do so. No negative side effects, and I also swish with the Orajel Toothache Rinse before each application, which seems to help it last longer."

"I used it for tooth pain. I really don't know what I would do without it. Sometimes it gets so bad I can hardly think. The pain hurts my eye and ear. This helps so much. I just have to be careful not to swallow a lot, or it can cause my throat to feel weird. If I had to use a lot, I will let it sit for about 40 seconds, then spit the excess out. If I just put a little dab in, it doesn't bother me. Especially now that I've used it for a while. The maker of this should be given an award! I use the Orajel brand 4x blue gel. I think it works the best and has the best texture. It costs a little more, but it's worth it. Some days I use a whole tube, and I've used them all. I hope this helps someone."

Benzocaine topical "I had all my teeth removed and got immediate dentures. My oral surgeon packed my dentures with Benzodent. I never had any pain at all. I continued using Benzodent while adjusting to my dentures. It is very affordable. It's thick and doesn't melt away right after applying. It doesn't taste horrible. I HIGHLY recommend this over any other oral pain gel."

Benzocaine topical "Use about 1/8 inch length strip from applicator and apply with your pinky to the affected gum line. Try not to swig, in fact spit out your saliva. This stuff can stay in place for 25 to 45 minutes so you can fall asleep. Goodnight and goodbye."

Benzocaine topical "Anbesol is good for canker sores! It's easily applicable and numbs whatever is hurting for a good 2-3 hours. It'll mildly burn and sting when you apply it at first (because you're putting your Anbesol-covered fingertip on a sore inside your mouth, of course it's going to hurt), but it goes away fairly quickly. Do be aware, though, that other parts of your mouth (edge of tongue, lips, teeth, etc.) are going to come into contact with the Anbesol-covered sore as well (the friction is why it hurt in the first place) and will be numbed as well. No worries if some of it gets in your saliva and you swallow—just don't go downing 500 mL of it on purpose."
