"Occasionally, I have itchy, watery eyes and a runny nose. I used to take Ru-Tuss tablets long ago, but cannot get them anymore. It is the ONLY medicine that I have ever taken that dries up my running eyes and nose. For the last several years, I have not been able to get it. Neither my physician nor pharmacies can get the drug for some reason."

"I don't understand why this medicine has been taken off the market. For people like us, it was one of the only medicines that was strong enough to help with really bad allergy days. My dad and I took it for years. I recently talked to a doctor about getting more since my supply is finally dwindling, and he mentioned something about how this crosses the blood-brain barrier, and that's why you get sleepy if you take too much."

"I agree with all of you! I've been suffering for many years with this, and it's removed from the market. I wrote the FDA asking why they removed Ru-Tuss, and the response was that the company didn't resubmit it for approval in 2011 :( ;("

"Loved this drug. If it is so effective and now hard to find and much sought after, then please bring it back in its original potency. Everything in the drug store for sinus DOES NOT WORK. I've been wasting a lot of money on products that don't work. Bring back what does work as needing a prescription PLUS the patient must have a documented chronic sinus condition."

"I started having cold, flu, and allergy symptoms by January 2017. Suddenly, these symptoms did not go away but aggravated to the point that I had to see many doctors to relieve these symptoms and used expensive medications, up to $400.00 each. The diagnosis from all my doctors was 'persistent cough' due to allergy. For five months, I followed their instructions, took the medications religiously, but I had to stop them because they did not cure the symptoms and, in some cases, the side effects were worse. What was the only medication that cured the symptoms? RESPA AR!!!!! I filled and refilled a prescription on May 8, 2009. Since it is the only medication that cures my allergy symptoms, I keep it like gold. I informed my doctors about this."

"I used to use this, the only thing I could use to help my sinus drainage and the itchy, watery eyes. Really helped my inner ear symptoms by drying up the sinus drainage, but the pharmacy can't obtain it anymore. Switched me to Q-Tuss, which is similar, but then switched me to Sta-Hist, which was also similar. Now all three are nowhere to be found, and I can't get any relief for my symptoms with the other meds they recommend."

"Have become immune to most other allergy medicines, but Respa-AR works amazingly for my allergy symptoms! My pharmacist says they're not making it anymore, which is sad, because now, I'll go back to suffering from allergy symptoms not well controlled."

"OMG! Not making it anymore, why? It is a wonderful drug for allergy sufferers. Nothing else helps me! I can even eat things I am allergic to and not react when I take this. The only downside is it does make my throat very dry, but I don't take. I'd rather have that than the allergy symptoms."

"The most effective medicine for my allergy symptoms due to spring pollen-induced coughing and drainage. I've tried them all for 50 years, and nothing works as well. I am shocked that such a fabulous medicine has been pulled. Respa stops the undesirable coughing and drainage and that horrible raspy tickle in my lungs like none other. There is no reason to pull it. It has a special combination of ingredients no other medicine has. For instance, the Belladonna. It knocks out the problem symptoms in 3 or 4 days! Last spring, I only took 2 doses and was back to breathing with no other medicines involved."

"I am very unhappy that Respa-AR will no longer be available. I have allergies to dust mites and some pollens and have constant drainage down my throat. I take shots, but before finding Respa-AR, I had to quit even singing in choir due to the constant need to clear my throat. I have tried all the over-the-counter medicines and other scripts, but nothing works. I think the belladonna is the difference, and it is not available even by script unless you need it in a seizure medicine. Not going to be fun for some of us."

"Took it as a teen in the ‘70s. Prevented sinus infections and cured hay fever/allergies. When I moved to Calif, my Dr said they didn’t have it and he’d have to give me lots of medicines to match it. Now that I’m back in Oklahoma, allergies have returned. Sad to hear it’s not available anymore."

"Ru-Tuss tablets were removed from the market when BASF purchased Boots Pharmaceuticals in the 1990s. The VP of Knoll Pharmaceutical, a subsidiary of BASF, didn't like the product and forbade further manufacturing. It was a very effective product, but the margins weren't great since it wasn't a patented drug."

"This is the only medication that helps my runny nose and eyes. I have a prescription but cannot find the medicine. The pharmacy does not have any and says they cannot find out where to obtain it."

"I cannot believe that this will not be available anymore. It worked wonders for sinus, colds, flu, etc. I want to actually call the company."

"Ru-Tuss has worked better than anything I’ve ever used over the years. When I get swollen nasal membranes, I end up with fluid in my ears with vertigo. When I felt it coming on, I could stop the fluid in my ears in its tracks with Ru-Tuss. Just took it when I had post-nasal drainage & ear problems. Nothing else OTC works now. It’s a waste of money. Please bring Ru-Tuss back."
