Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I am 22 years old and never was a bad student throughout school but was always very unfocused when it came to reading comprehension and listening to lectures. I now work for a general physician and she seemed to notice my frustration with not being able to get anything done when there was a lot to do. I would get very aggravated easily and had very bad mood swings. My doctor prescribed me Adderall XR and I was very hesitant to take it. When I started taking it, I felt like I was much calmer, was able to do my job. It's really great, me and my husband get along now because I'm not so uptight. It does give me dry mouth and insomnia, but I can deal with the no appetite. Overall, I think it is great!"

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I was tried to be put on Ritalin when I was 5, and it simply wasn’t gonna happen with my parents. So I continued school and still had C and D grades. I went to a doctor, did all these tests, and they said I have ADD/ADHD with anxiety disorder, which was from all the MDMA abuse. So I am on 30 mg IR Adderall (the ones with the 30 on them), only ones that don’t make my mouth dry, and 2 mg Xanax 4 times a day. Let me say I wake up every day excited to go to work. I used to be a hardcore tablet junkie, and now since I take these two, I don’t drink and I don’t do illegal drugs. These two prescriptions were a match made in heaven. I take 2 green bars and 1 Adderall in the morning, and I’m flying at work in the IT/software field. These two have saved my life. Best combo."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I have taken Adderall for over a year and I have had great results. I take 20 mg twice a day. I stay on task and accomplish so much more in a day. Initially, I was shaky and jittery and not sure about Adderall, but it was stopped and I feel the full benefits of the drug. The only side effects I would tell someone about would be 1) dry mouth, 2) loss of appetite (good for me though), and 3) sometimes hard to get to sleep at night. These are trivial, given the amount of benefit I see from Adderall."

For Fatigue "I was first on Ritalin for about a month and a half, which wasn't making any difference, and that's when my doc decided to put me on Adderall instead. I feel stabilized mentally, but the side effects are killing me at this point. I have slow speech (to the point noticed by others), confusion, dry mouth, and blurry vision to the point where I am starting to worry about driving at night. I am confused at this point as to if the mental benefits are better than the side effects. I will of course talk to my doc, and urge you to do the same."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I’m a 21-year-old female. Adderall helped me focus, be on time, stay organized. However, as time passed, I noticed the negative impact. I had weight loss, irritability, my anxiety was worse, dry skin, dry mouth, and was not feeling like myself. I developed insomnia too. This was only on 20 mg a day. I took it as prescribed. The worst part was when I tried to quit taking it after I was switched to Vyvanse, which I felt even worse on. I ended up in the hospital having a panic attack the first time I tried to stop taking it. The second time I tried to quit, I had even more withdrawal symptoms: paranoia, panic attacks, vomiting. Stimulants are not worth it."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I have primarily inattentive ADHD and recently was diagnosed at 39 years old. I was on amphetamine salts IR 10 mg 2x a day as needed at first, which worked okay, but gave me some side effects I didn't appreciate, such as peeing so much it kept me awake at night. Also, it worked inconsistently per day and sometimes per hour. It gave me blurred vision. So I was switched to 20 mg amphetamine salts XR, which is much easier on my system. I don't have the urinary issues, and it works a bit more consistently, though I don't get the 'zeroed in' focus that I got with the IR, and I still get some blurred vision, but no issues that cause it. Also, with both, I have a mildly decreased appetite, which is fine since I'm overweight, and also a very dry mouth."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I started taking Adderall XR 12 days ago, and I love it. I immediately started focusing better. I now feel great when I wake up knowing that I will be able to get things done that have been put off for so long. My memory and self-esteem have improved dramatically. The only side effects I am experiencing are dry mouth and mild headaches."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I started on Adderall XR 20 mg and noticed improvements the first day, eventually finding the right dose being 30 mg of Adderall XR and one 20 mg Adderall IR. Adderall XR has some side effects, but overall, if your ADHD is bad enough, it’s easily worth the few inconveniences that may occur, such as dry mouth, stomach ache, joint aches, migraine, some paranoia, and sleep issues. Granted, the only ones I have that are consistent are dry mouth and sometimes a slight stomach ache that goes away after 20 minutes. I highly recommend this drug as it really has improved my life and made me able to get through college and work. I don’t have health insurance, and for a month's supply of 30 mg XR, it’s around $50, and I pay $40 for the month of 20 mg IR. Keep in mind that medication at the end of the day will affect everyone differently, so make sure and do YOUR research on medications that are recommended to you and make sure you’re comfortable with the potential side effects. Be safe!"

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I take the extended release once a day. I recently got a dose increase for my extreme fatigue. It has been about 3 weeks, and I do not like the symptoms that occur with it. I feel like a zombie, I don't enjoy talking when I am on my medicine. I get extremely bad, frequent headaches, I am even more tired when it wears off, but I am unable to sleep. I get really irritable and moody. With the lower dose, the main problematic symptom I would have was the dry mouth, but that was manageable."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Adderall XR has changed my life! For years, I have struggled with depression and anxiety, no motivation, mood swings, and couldn't focus on any task. I was diagnosed with ADD/Bipolar when I was 19-20ish (26 now and mom of 1). I have struggled through so many years not knowing after several doctors and tons of medicines or medication combinations. I was put on Vyvanse from 30-50mg over a period of 2 years. It worked well for me. In the beginning, I had dry mouth and palpitations. My coverage stopped paying for it. The doctor tried me on Strattera and Concerta (not together). After several months, I was just still always sick, with stomach cramps, headaches, etc. About 3 years now I've been on Adderall XR 30mg, and I still have dry mouth and loss of appetite. Other than that, it has helped me to be a 'normal' person and a loving, motivated mother."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I take the XR, and it allows me to focus throughout the day at work and in classes. I can actually sit down and complete a task, I can get something done (for once), and the only side effects I really experienced were a bit of dry mouth at first and some continued loss of appetite. Otherwise, completely effective. Unfortunately, my insurance company only covers the brand name. Otherwise, it would be much, much cheaper. It's the brunt of my monthly prescription costs."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I would like to first say that my experience with Adderall was overall successful, it most definitely helped my concentration and ability to focus. However, there are some side effects that I think are worth noting. I had minimal anxiety prior to taking this medication (only when traveling). My anxiety dramatically increased to the point where I was put in therapy and almost took a medical leave from work. (I quit taking the medication once I realized it was a significant contributing factor - although not completely to blame.) I had a very dry mouth while prescribed, which actually ended up leading to cavities according to my dentist. Noticeable lower back pain and problems sleeping (both are alleviated once you quit taking the meds)."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I've been on Adderall since I was in high school, so about 5 years. It works well for my concentration and allows me to focus for an extended period of time, such as when studying. This medicine has definitely helped me, but it has a lot of side effects. For me, loss of appetite, euphoria, and dry mouth are the most common. Headaches are frequent, but nothing ibuprofen can't fix. I've been on and off antidepressants that affected the Adderall. When I was on Lexapro, taking Adderall would make me irritable, anxious, and paranoid, sometimes to a full-blown panic attack. Now I'm on Prozac, and the Adderall combination is fine. But I still get anxious and mildly irritable when the 'high' of the Adderall decreases."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I take Adderall XR 30 mg 1 time per day. When I started, it worked great as long as I took it before 12:00 noon. In the afternoon, I was up all night. After about 3 months, I could not tell that I had taken anything. My doctor added 1 mg intuitively, it seems to work okay. I am about to the 7th month and back to I can't tell whether or not I take it. I do not have a past of any dependencies or addictions (except nicotine), so I am not sure where I will go from here. All in all, it is a good medication for ADHD. The only side effects are dry mouth and grinding my teeth as it wears off."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "It's okay, but it's very slow to kick in, and when it goes off, it is very slow, so it's kind of torturing. ADD people will know what I'm talking about. The panic attacks come and go, and focus is not that great. It's a lot cheaper if you use a coupon. Vyvanse has fewer side effects but is more expensive. By the way, it gives you a dry mouth, so consistently drink..."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Switched from Concerta to Mydayis for the longer duration mechanism Mydayis offers. Was started on 25 mg of Mydayis. ADD symptoms improved, but I experienced dry mouth, dizziness, heart increase, and appetite decrease, which subsided after the first week. Second week, I felt like the dose was not effective. Doc switched me to 37.5 mg of Mydayis, and so far symptoms of ADD improved, but side effects are rough. Dry mouth, headache, dizziness, lack of appetite, increased anxiety. I’m on day 4 or 5, so hoping the side effects subside when my body adjusts to the higher dose... fingers crossed."

For Narcolepsy "I am 27 years old. I've been on Adderall since I was 21. I was diagnosed with narcolepsy, cataplexy, sleep paralysis, sleep hallucinations, etc. I have such scary dreams, lose my muscle control, and fall asleep out of nowhere. After trying several things, Adderall was the ONLY thing that eased my symptoms. BUT it is hard to take as directed. And running out makes for a bad time. Running out throws me into more frequent and severe sleep fits. I also get prescribed hydrocodone. I don't promote people to take pain medicines, but Adderall does make my body/muscles tense and sore at times. So it takes the pain and edge off the negative symptoms of the Adderall. Dry mouth is also a negative symptom, but I'm used to it now."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I have adult ADHD. I'm 21 now and have been on Adderall 20 mg 3 times a day for the past 4 years. It's really helped me, if you just take it responsibly, you don't have any real problems. The only thing I still get is dry mouth."

For ADHD "I was prompted by my doctor to switch to 25 mg of Mydayis from 40 mg of Vyvanse. After 2 weeks of being on Mydayis, I can confidently say that this was the worst decision I've ever made. Symptoms that I've experienced include nausea (vomited 20 minutes before writing this), stomach pains, flu-like body aches, confusion, fatigue, dry throat, headaches, and frequent urination. Compared to Vyvanse, there is no competition. None of my ADHD symptoms were treated effectively by this medication. In fact, I find myself significantly worse off after taking this medication due to the constant fatigue (which is odd for an amphetamine) and extreme nausea. Even now, I'm having an extremely difficult time writing this, constantly spacing out, dry-heaving, etc. I plan on switching back to Vyvanse, which worked quite well at treating my ADHD symptoms, and might try a 50 mg dosage instead. In conclusion, I absolutely would not recommend Mydayis for treating ADHD."

For ADHD "Prescribed 20 mg x 2. Been on it for 2 months now, and I'm weighing the pros and cons. I fell back to ONE 20 mg per morning. 2 20 mg was too much. Granted, it helps with focus, memory, and makes me a bit outgoing. But at the price of loss of appetite, weak erection, dry mouth, headaches, weakness and muscle cramps, sweating, and a few other nagging issues. It's not the first time for me on this med or groups. They really are convenient for some of my issues, but at a cost. Not so sure if I want my focus and thought process restored at the cost it brings me in the other areas."

For ADHD "I was diagnosed with ADD as a child and had been prescribed several medications, including Wellbutrin, Neurontin, and Metadate. All proved ineffective (and the Wellbutrin damn near killed me). Finally, I was introduced to Adderall. Adderall finally helped me focus while elevating my mood. I even became friendlier because I was no longer frustrating myself trying to find the words I wanted to say. The side effects were mostly mild and went away once the medication built up in my system: dry mouth, fidgeting, mild erectile dysfunction. Vasoconstriction was the only side effect that tended to linger, and I recently discovered the hard way that if you are experiencing vasoconstriction, it is wise to avoid heavy exertion."

For ADHD "I just started the generic this week. I'm having a horrible time. I feel more motivated to get up and do things and feel more talkative, but I'm having horrible headaches, dizziness, dry mouth, and very sick to my stomach. Still deciding if it's worth hanging in there to see if the side effects subside as I get used to the medicine."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "First drug I started taking for ADD a month ago. Took the 20 mg, and it felt too intense and had a ton of side effects, but after 3-5 days, it was tolerable but still suffered from really bad headaches and dry mouth all day. Two weeks later, the headaches finally stopped, but dry mouth was horrible, I must have drank a gallon of water or more a day and had to have candy or gum all the time. But I could tell I was a little more productive at work. At night, I would catch myself daydreaming worse than before and wondered if I was worse without it. I felt it basically replaced my coffee and then some, but the dry mouth wasn't worth it. I am now going to start taking Wellbutrin since I am a little depressed too, and that drug is supposed to help with both."
