Alcohol will not interfere with the way the antiviral drugs works. Acyclovir will still be effective. However the general advice is if you are suffering from any type of infection you are best to avoid alcohol so that you can give your body the best chance to fight off the infection and to reduce the risk of side effects, such as dizziness, especially in older adults.

Considering Acyclovir is an Antiviral nor an Antibiotic (as you called it) I don't think you're knowledgeable on this subject.

Alcohol will not affect the effectiveness of Acyclovir. That said, the most common problem that can occur when a person taking Acyclovir drinks alcohol is an amplification of the dizziness and drowsiness that frequently occur as side effects of Acyclovir. Alcohol consumption can result in a potentially dangerous level of dizziness, when mixed with Acyclovir, which can pose serious safety hazards. Make sure you have a designated driver the first few times drinking until you know how your body handles the two together. free discount card
