I just started taking this last month and my period was 2 weeks long and very very heavy with blood clot too like this month. Will it happened every month?

I just want to know had anybody completely stop I have iud and the birth control shot I'm bleeding so bad can anybody help me
I'm sorry to say... yes. My doctor never mentioned anything either. I've had DAYS when I cannot leave my house because the menstrual blood/clots are so heavy. This is just another layer of stress and fatigue that just adds to the health issue. I have a PE and just diagnosed with Factor V Leiden Mutation. I have been on Xeralto for only 6 weeks and I feel terrible most of the time. No energy, slow thinking, unable to multi task anymore, extremely sad and depressed. Seriously thinking I might have to quit my career as a hairdresser (27 years in the business) it's heartbreaking indeed. Good luck to you.
I am 38 and I have begun Xarelto about 2 weeks ago, after having pulmonary emboli. I haven't had any side effects, which is great; but, I am still just trying to process everything. I am 7 days into my first period and it is like nothing I have ever experienced before. My periods were pretty normal, irregular in the amount of time; but average bleeding, nothing crazy like this period. This period my it seem like it is never going to end. Clotting and changing out pads so often. I am quite grateful to be alive and to have found this site. So, helpful with what to expect and the side effects to look for, thank you.
Yes! Ditch the tampons and get the longest, most absorbent, thickest pads you can find. You have to really start planning your life around your period now... it sucks! absolutely sucks!
I am 28 years old and have been on xarelto for 8 months and will be indefinitely. I have been seeing a hematologist and receiving iron infusions to counteract the anemia i have as a result of my heavy cycles. It is unbearable and my doctors have recommended a hysterectomy. I have 4 living children so i am a good candidate for such a procedure. Birth control can cause clots and i already have a genetic predisposition for clotting. I went off the xarelto for less than a month to try to avoid the horrendous bleeding and was hospitalized with a pulmonary embolism. I sympathize with anyone going through the same thing and hope they can sort these problems out.
I suffered a PE in late March 2016. I was on Coumadin initially with normal periods. I started xarelto 20mg in May. My first period in June was horrible. 14+ days, super tampons and overnight pads filling each hour. My OB/GYN put me on progesterone. My July period started three weeks ago very light. I was hopefully. Last Sat it turned into a more normal flow. Still was happy with that. But now, the past two days, the crazy heavy flow, clots, changing pads every hour has started again. I have to figure out what to do. Getting married in 2 weeks. Can't bleed like this on my wedding day. I have my final fitting today and I'm so nervous about getting blood on the gown. Ahhhh. To say nothing of the horrible quality of life this brings. Someone keeps posting about changing to Eliquis but if you look on the threads, woman seem to have this same issue on that. Oh. And I have had an ablation. Maybe time for a hysterectomy ASAP?
I have been on xarelto for 7 weeks for a DVT in my leg. I am also having the horrible bleeding with my periods that you are all talking about. I am on 20mg a day at this point. I have an appointment with a hematologist. My question is to those of you who may have had a hysterectomy. We're you taken off of the xarelto for a while before the surgery??? I had a hysterectomy planned but the DVT occured so now it's on hold. Does the clot have to completely be dissolved before having a hysterectomy?? Thanks for helping. I'm so glad I'm not alone in this.
Hi I am 40 years old and have DVT. I was started in eliquis and my period is so bad and I am at day 13. I am also so weak and tired. I was wondering if anyone else is having this issue with eliquis? Thanks!
Yes, most likely. I switched to a newer med that started with a C, but don't recall name.
Carrie2727, More then likely you probably will have heavy periods every month. Theres NOTHING Regular about that. I was on 20 Mg Xarelto 2014 to 2015 Approx 9 months. the 3rd month of being on it all hell broke loose, it was the MOST Horrible experience I ever had, I started off bleeding VERY, VERY HEAVY Periods, I'm talking about using two Over night pads at a time, putting the pads inside a baby diaper and wearing, and changing it every 2- 3 hours for like 7 to 10 days every month, bleeding would drip out the diaper and I had Huge Blood clots sometimes like Golf ball size. I started sleeping 12-15 hours a day, could hardly walk without feeling dizzy near fainting, started using a wheelchair for fear of falling, had VERY little appetite, had to force myself to eat half a sandwich just to take the Xarelto with food. had huge headaches when period started, one month a headache lasted for 2 weeks straight. sometimes period came on 2 timmes a month.
I had also VERY rapid heartbeat, even when sitting still heart would race, I had so many side affects on Xarelto I had wrote a paper on it , I had to eventually go to the hospital admitted for 3 days for VERY low Hemoglobin ONLY 2.5, Doctors nurses was Shocked I was alive with Hemoglobin that low, they say Normal Hemoglobin should be approx 12-14 I needed 4 Liters of Blood . Xarelto has MANY, commercials of lawsuits against it. If you do a google search you will see the many women who are on or have been on Xarelto that have VERY heavy periods that last some weeks or twice a month and the MANY side affects with it.
I was diagnosted with PE on sept 9th and put on xarelto..i have been in my period since 11th of september..I already had one transfusion of blood..and I feel like nobody knows what to do about it..I am discouraged and angry..this is not a life with constant periods
Unfortunately it did for me until the doctors took me off of it and I needed to use hormones to control the bleeding. It got longer and heavier each month. Very scary.
My third period when I started on xarelto in December was like that too and lasted I could not leave my house but I got described cycloapron and that turned onto be my life savior. I take them during my period and I can have normal life. I had a blood clot in the brain that caused a stroke and I am 42 years old so I have to remain on blood thinners rest of my life but if you bleed a lot go see your doctor because I nearly got anemia. Bleeding so much.
I started Xarelto 3 weeks ago and experienced no symptoms or side affects at first. But when my period came, it was absolutely horrible. Just like the other women on the post, my bleeding is heavy, extremely heavy and clotting is a major concern for me because I have never experienced that. I went to the doctor and asked her about it. She said maybe month 2 will be better when the dosage decreases. I was on Warfin previously and I never experienced periods like this. If my second month is the same, I am going to a specialist and will request to be back on Warfin. I can't live like this the rest of my life. There is no quality of life when you have to change out your tampons as often as I do and when you are messing up your clothes even in your sleep. I think Xarelto is for males.
Hi, I'm currently on Riveroxaban (Xarelto) and have been for the last 4yrs
Previous to that I was on warfrin for 10yrs. For numerous Pulmonary Embolism's in my lungs and a stroke and a T.I.A wasn't in any sort of contraceptive whilst in warfrin. (Not under any Heamotologist now) and haven't been for 4yr.
4yr ago I had an abortion and had the mirena inserted and got moved onto riveroxaban.
Had no problems for 4yr whilst on mirena and riveroxaban, this last two weeks though I've gone on to lose my coil and I'm bleeding a lot heavier than I ever have (been to doctors had examination not pregnant not miscarring but definitely no coil) so I'm having a period,
I'm finding that Im having to double up with a pad and a tampax both on the highest level you can get.
I'm changing every hour and a half,
I'm into 9days now
It is heavy and clotting I feel weak and have cramping
I know it's scary and worrying if you faint always go straight to A&E.
I'll let you all know how I go on but hopefully fingers crossed I finish soon.
