Ever since starting this med i can not drink coffee. Seems to have a metallic taste like licking a nickel lol
Ive been taking quetiapine for about 5months now. I experience what you mentioned. Shortly after starting seroquel i noticed everything tasted like nothing. Now, i have to force myself to eat anything. Most days i will only eat once because food tastes that lousy. Ill start to eat, and after one or two bites, i just cant force it down. It doesnt matter what it is either. Even sweets are gross now. (For someone who loves sweets, this is cry worthy lol) My dr doesnt know what to say. No one else has had this reaction. She expects me to track my weight now to ensure im getting enough nourishment. I wish i had answers for you, or suggestions even, but im looking too! I thought quetiapine was not recommended for elderly?
Capner,
Quetiapine (Seroquel) doesn't usually cause a bad taste; however, it does cause HORRIBLE dry mouth. I would suggest making sure she has plenty of water to sip on and even hard candy to suck on throughout the day if she is able to do so. That will help greatly with whatI am guessing she is identifying as a bad taste. Hope this helps.
Sorry aBout your mother ,I truly mean it.
No lamotrigine does not affect taste.
I have been o n this med for 4 years, and have never experiended it---
I suggest you talk to his/her doctor about this.
All the Best and good luck
I agree with maso4169 you should contact him or hers doctor. That's where I would start.
Hey guys, I think you mighthave misread this one. Caper isn't talking about lamotrigine, it's quetiapine or Seroquel.
You are right my friend... thank you, well you responded.
